noise level

I was camping in my no wood foamy with twin wall polycarbonate windows. Could not help noticing how quiet it was when the doors were closed. Not even the acorns bouncing off the roof making much noise. Is that the same with all foamy's.

How did it fair against dents?

We have a screened porch on the house with one of those transparent corrugated panel shed roofs on it. Boy howdy when the back door is open and the acorns hit that it lets you know it; Thwack!!!

I think canvas over foam is probably OK with acorns But branches may cut the canvas.

Not really , unless they’re really LARGE (limbs) ... :o We live in the woods , where branches fall on the FS all the time ... so far , nothing ... The Last trailer went through a Major Hail storm with minimal damage that healed itself in the Sun ...

Didn’t anybody see my sledge Hammer test in my Album ??? ... and that was Thin Linen canvas ...

Ken , it’s just that most people don’t realize what happens when you skin Foam with a nice fabric .... It gets very Solid ... and as the extruded foam compresses it exponentially offers more and more resistance to puncture... Beaded foam does not do that and limbs , etc, pass right through the soft stuff ...

Here’s a pic of a fairly large rotten limb that punctured 10 holes in the roof of my Commercial trailer , the roof was 1.5” beaded foam with a 3/32” soft plywood (cheap luan) and a literally paper thin vinyl “membrane” skin  ... Several parts of the limb penetrated the roof completely and were found on the floor inside ... :o Glad I wasn’t inside ... :frightened:

I little off subject. As I stated I went all foam with no wood blocking. :o
The roof and walls are canvas - 1" extruded polystyrene - Menards FRP
I used the compress factor and 1/8 FRP plates to mount the doors, etc.
For Me it is fun to push the envelope in design.
