Wd did a lot of mold remediation after Katrina and it was... Wash the surface to kill the mold , then paint over it with a primer ... we see you have to use their stain blocking primer over this product .... seems redundant( and expensive ) to have to buy two products for one job , when getting rid of the mold is a matter of washing with bleach solutions ...

How bad is your mold problem ... ?

I'm thinking of it as the primer on the new canvas.

You have to apply a stain blocking primer over it? Was that in the video? I didn't catch that.

When we repainted the house recently , we got some mold resistant paint ... It still got mold after a while ... :o

Sorry about your mold woes. A lot of paints call themselves mold resistant but this is the first primer I have heard of that says it actually kills the stuff. That can't be bad if you're putting it on canvas I bet. As long as it sticks well! I have doubts that it would kill any mold on the outside of the regular paint though.

Don , I think the best thing we’ve ever learned here was to test the material first on some scraps ( moldy scraps in this case) and see what happens ...

Otherwise ... here are a few Thrifty Alternatives ... http://blackmold.awardspace.com/kill-remove-mold.html

Thoughts about mold.
Mold is everywhere. Even in sterile hospital conditions. It has been found dormant on the moon.

Unless mold in any fabric is killed before covering, it can grow when moisture is introduced via scratch or crack.
Is it possible to remedy this? Bleach boil said fabric before using. The bleach 'burns' at different degrees of strengths thus weakens material 'x' amount.
Considering how long our trailers are expected to last, probably just a good hot washing and hot drying before using will suffice.
If adding Mold Killer to your primer makes you feel better, by all means do. It doesn't hurt unless you put in too much.

In a basement I was working on I had the chance to do several different tests on the cinder block walls.
I used mold preventative primer, Mold-X additive, mortar, I even tried a couple oz. of bleach.
After 5 years the only mold that did not come back (so far) was a handful of mortar mixed in a gallon of primer.
I was going for texture and hardness, got both, and mold killer/mold-blocking was an unexpected surprise.
NOW, if portland can be made light weight.

Not as funny as you might think. I'm pretty sure we talked about the possibility of a concrete TD in the big thrifty thread (... or somewhere). There was a big deal about concrete hulled ships a few years back, somebody had an idea that they would be the next big thing in cost efficiency in the shipping industry.

That sounds more like a Lead Balloon joke.

LOOONG time ago, Popular Mechanics? I read about concrete ships.... no comment, to heavy of a conversation.

Come on now, if you read all of my post you'll know I did not say or even hint it to be used on Teardrops.
Let's not go this route, been there once already.

I've never accepted people assuming or insinuating something I did not say nor do I care for my words changed to something else.
I'm pretty sure most people don't like that either.

Keep the facts straight and EVERYONE will be happier.
Capisce.

Not familiar with that paint but the painters that do the restaraunts use a mold killing primer in a spray can. Seems to work well as I have gone back a few years later and the areas they did look just like the rest. Lots of restaraunts were built with a vapor barrier on the inside which is a big no no in this climate so it was a matter of time before they molded. Problem was the architects were up north designing a store for up north.

You made me remember something....
Come to think of it, I used clear semi-gloss (cheap) Krylon on a bathroom ceiling that had water stains from a roof leak. I used that cause my white shellac stain-cover spray ran out. That was water stains not mold so I can't vouch it for mold.
Worthy a test if anyone currently has the situation.
What I can vouch for is clear semi-gloss on walls near the kitchen stove seals out grease. Tho the clear makes the paint look darker.

Before I insulated and sealed my CT walls, just in case, I used a Sherman Williams primer that was supposed to have mold inhibitors in it. But I have no way of verifying its effectiveness because it is behind the paneling and insulation. I just did it for peace of mind more then anything else. I believe it is better to do something then nothing at all to solve a problem,
