PMF ....hence the name ...
POOR Man’s Fiberglass ... Easy , Cheap ... just for you !!!
And has the benefit of
easy , quick repair too .... can’t do that with FG or AL ...

No worries , it’s been well tested here ...

Yes, PMF is really close in performance to FG and is a bit cheaper, too. But I wouldn't say that it is so much easier to patch than FG (if you don't count the PPE and mixing that is required).

Fiberglass set in epoxy is really easy (although a little messy), provides a great wear surface, and adds substantial impact resistance. Always wear gloves, and don't breath freshly-sanded epoxy dust. Canvas is used a lot for traditional boat decks, both for good footing, wear protection for decks, and some waterproofing, but it's not something I have a lot of experience with. I have built three (or nine) small plywood/glass/epoxy stitch and glue boats.
If you are interested in building waterproof composite (i.e., plywood, foam, fiberglass and epoxy), check out the boatbuilding community at Bateau.com. Those folks are real experts at the technology.
Incidentally, patching fiberglass/epoxy damage is super-easy if you have already built your own trailer (or boat). Don't confuse fiberglass/epoxy with factory polyester resin fiberglass boats (or Corvettes). The methods and materials are pretty radically different.

(How about this for a know-it-all first post?)

Well, that's OK, I guess, but I've always used Band-Aid Flexible Fabric strips for this kind of repair. Some people swear by the plastic waterproof Band-Aids, but I find they don't stick as well to rigid insulation. (Thanks for the kind welcome. Newbies in an online forum can be a pain, can't they?)

Rick, we hang around just to assist everybody who needs it ... New is cool

Ps. The Band aid repair is still there , and represents an extremely
simple example of a quick foamie repair , and still no Ants visible ... ( well, I did bug spray everywhere as suggested )
