Cheap simple “window”?

Postby BrianInVA » Wed Feb 16, 2022 8:10 pm

Cheap simple window?

Has anyone considered a rigid pet door as a frugal (i.e., cheap) and easy to install option for a Foamie build?

Big Box stores have 7.5”x10.5” rigid cat doors for $29 that look dead easy to install.

I’m seriously considering this for my build.

Talk me out of it?

I suppose you could mount a screen on it. Check out basement awning or hopper window for a small, cheap window with a screen.

I found a 12x18 “play house window” that opens and has a screen for $33. That’s about the best compromise I’ve found.

I like it. cheap and light weight.
I've been trying to decide on windows for my first build. I really like the playhouse window idea. I'm afraid the cat door would leak.

I ended up getting two 14x21 playhouse/shed window. They were $35 each on Amazon. Single pane, good cheap little window with screens.
