I was going to look around for one in Joe's or some other sporting goods store. They want $18 to ship one to Marysville.

Here's a Texsport waffle iron it's made in china but $23.28 + shipping is a lot cheaper than an antique, comes with a low stand. Danny

Thanks Danny, I like that one better than the lodge brand as it has wooden handles ( so I don't have to reach for the oven mit everytime ). There is a store in Longveiw that has a good selection of C.I. I will check there to see if they have any on stock. I am surprised that Sportsman Warehouse did't have any C.I. waffle iron as they do have a fair selection of iron.

I just ordered a new Texsport waffle iron for $19.95 + 13.25 Shipping= $33.20.

Now I can enjoy it and not have to pay an inflated price for an antique.
I''ll put it on a couple pieces of angle iron or a pipe cutoff from Metal Supermarket to give the coals some air. Danny

I did find an online antique dealer and bought a "Heart Shaped Rosette" waffle iron...no bidding, just lay yur money down. (it was a lot less than the one Brick,'er someone, sniped out from under my nose).

I have what might be an original handle off that Western Importing Heart iron I bought.
I haven't seen the Griswold I bought yet, but it needs handles too. I'd be pretty cool if all the manufactures settled on one socket size, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The part of the handle that fits the socket on the WI is super dried out, like it's been a part of a lot of waffling/heating and cooling.

It might give you reference for the handles you offered Kevin and I, as well as your own.

My Griswold still has the wood handles. I'm describing them incase you want to reproduce them. It's a no. 8 was alsp patented in 1901 so they're early. The 8 must be a little bigger.The original handles are just a tiny bit bigger in diameter than the holes they go in. They are 4 1/4 inches long with about 3/4 inch of that inside the handle stubs. Their ends are slightly rounded on the edges and they are painted black. Small nails go through the little holes to hold them on. I think they are a little short for safe use. Definately don't want to touch the hot iron. The Wagner handles are much nicer.

I notice some of the other brands of waffle irons don't have handles and possibly seem to rely on some sort of rod that goes into a little tab on the top to flip them. Any one know how that works? I don't get it.

I just measured the one handle that came (broken) with my western importing heart iron and its just like Mary described.
I'll bet these were stocked in hardware stores in years past as I don't think they would stand up long under daily use.
