Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Don't be bashful......... You know what was funny about mine ........ it originally didn't start out as a WOODY. I saw Roly's 1/2 nelson, a bunch of times on the internet during my research and design, and I was hooked on the WOODY look myself and there was no debate about it. I guess your in denial about the fan club thing Huh

I like the riveted all aluminum construction of my 1947 Aluminum Trailer Co. teardrop. It is much harder to repair though.

Started with a basic Benroy design. Everytime i look at this site i get new ideas and modify things, so i guess it will be a modified Benroy of some sort anyways. I just finished welding the frame up, so my width and length are about the only things set.

I think for the sexy look the Cub/modernistic is way ahead. In my opinion a Cub towed by a 40 Ford Coupe is about as good as it could look. The Cub may not be the most functional design but the image is a great way to promote teardropping. This is my first tear and based on the Cub/Modernistic, they are a bit more difficult to build but worth the effort. Thanks to Micheal W I have had inspiration to carry on with it, pinching a few of his ideas. Thanks Micheal.

I'm comtemplating what I'll build. I like the simplicity of the Benroy. Steve T's FishInn looks really attractive which leads me to consider a CampInn style teardrop. Plans, at this stage, are all in my head. I'm tall, 6'4", so I want a 5 foot wide TD that'll fit a queen sized bed. It's length will probably be about 9 to 10 feet. A local independant lumber yard carries 1/2" x 5' x 5' baltic birch at a good price and 1/2" x 4' x 10' CDX too - so core buildings materials seem to be readily available. Trailer will be HF or custom - still up in the air. I need a friend who can weld.

Undecided here... I love Stve Fredricks Strip TD,.... Woody's TD has great appeal for the woody lover in me.., Lens' slumber coach is awesome too as far as classices gollll Dale's sqiuget is very nice for size and room to move.... Rob's cabin car is just the cats pajamas.. sweet. But Gaston's "Purple Tear" has it all shape, style, size and sex appeal , one awesome TD. Ooops did I vote?

I like the Benroys. I like the look, but more importantly, the Benroy profile gives more room in the trailer for a given floor length. Additionally, you can walk right up to the galley counter top without banging your chins on the end of the trailer.

I like the sleekness, exterior brawn look of the Slumbercoach.

My favorite is a modified Benroy, aka Grant Whipps L'il Bear profile. I love the lines, size and the look of the roll pans. It makes for a very roomy cabin that isn't claustrophobic. That's the profile of my tear and I would do it again. The tongue box was my adaptation of the same design

I'd have to say I'd most likely build a Grumman if I had to pick a favorite.
