Rocky got me to thinking about sinks...

My Benroy had a sink from the factory but I didn't use it other than to hold water bottles. I used dishpans for washing up.

My Ken-Skill didn't come with a sink and a previous owner removed the water tank. Still using dishpans.

Since you have to drain the sink into something anyway, I'd prefer to save the counter space. Plus I try to avoid having to wash too many dishes on vacation.

They love to wash dishes... Yeah Right!

No sink here. Dishpan from Walmart which sits on the picnic table has worked for us for more than 20 years of camping. It's easy to fill, easy to empty and frees up space in the galley for cooking. Also holds quite a bit of messy dishes.

Well, I screwed up my reply and I can't go back and change it. I accidentally answered "I have a sink installed..." but what I should have put was "I put a bowl on my counter when I need a sink."

This setup gives me a lot more counter space when I'm not using the sink, which is most of the time. I can also vary the size of my "sink" when I do use it - small for cleaning utensils & rinsing food - HA! Like I ever cook! - or large for washing dishes - I DO eat!

I'll pass on the sink. For one large enough to be of any use it would take half of my counter not only on top but the depth would also use up too much real estate below. Found a plastic kitty liter box which is just the right size and depth. It also doubles to hold junk when traveling.

Used stainless salad bowl from Target. Set on right side of counter, have a hand pump fed to a 6 gal. water tank. Thought it would be nice to just use a sink that could be easily remove. Got the idea from Steve Frederick's tear.

Yep, I have a sink it is quite large too but I do like it. If I need counter space I use the picnick table or the little folding one we bring along. I put it close to the left side, so when I take the sink out I can access the tail lights and the little storage space that is left. I just leave the stopper in it and drain it like those that use a dish pan. I also store the water hose under the sink while traveling. I did not add a storage tank because we usually camp at places with water. The faucet is one of those filtered drinking water faucets from HD. I stole the sink from my BBQ pit It was to hold ice and beer or something.

I have a sink in my galley and made a cutting board to cover the opening when not in use. If you have outrigger tables mounted on the sides of the trailer like I did, the counter space lost is minimal, besides the sink can be used for storage space for when traveling to and from the campgrounds for stuff the might spill so it could be contained. Besides the wife loves it and requested it during the build. Have not regretted it since. Just some thoughts on the matter. Trust me even those whom I have camped with have used it for there dishes also, so it does get used. And some thoughts about drainage, grey water tanks are not that cumbersome to drain and or if the campsite has a sewer hookup just put a hose on it and pipe it over to it. My sink is portable,holds about 3 gal. Then I can just put it anywhere It's needed..This new model replaced an older one..I like the idea being self contained...If ya don't use the sink..has a tap for drinking water..never waisted space...Reliance, wash n go A portable sink w/no parts to break...the older model i had lasted 12 yrs...Was still in good condition..& gave it to a friend..Just replaced about 25 ft of sewer pipe..w/out water for 4days...the sink worked well in the house for washing up,brushing teeth etc...Just another practicle toy I guess..But it works..

Say Dean, I have a sink and like Woody, when not in use, I put a cutting board over it. I wouldn't have it any other way. Like at Swimmers, a lot of my camping is where there is no water, so having a sink under the faset works good. It drains into a portable holding tank under the tear (sometimes).

I'm not putting a sink in my tear. Dishpan works fine for us.
