Emergency/space blanket + PMF skin for imitation aluminum?

Would it be possible to apply emergency blankets to the outside layer of PMF while it is still drying to add an outer heat reflective layer to the shell? Would it hold up or lose its effectiveness?

I imagine it would last abut a week in an Australian summer sun.
There were rood paints being marketed over here as insulating paints.
Perhaps you have something similar in your neck of the woods?
I've never used them, you'd have to do your own due diligence.

No they are scams

A bright white coating will do as well

but there are aluminum paints that are tough as nails.

Only "shiny" on a rough surface, otherwise on smooth comes up a bit flat grey.

Yeah, I did have doubts. Seemed a little too good to be true. I just went with bright white gloss paint. Seems to do some good.
I've used several different aluminium based paints. Great on metal, doubt I'd like them on timber.

I was once chastised on this forum for saying that PMF was an experimental process since folks continue to experiment with different clothes, adhesives, and finishes. You commonly see mention of "peel tests."

I suggest you try a peel test. I think you'll have poor adhesion since the stuff isn't porous but I admittedly have no experience with PMF.

Where's the "like" button?!

I would think the same as Tony, mainly because I doubt space blankets can absorb the glue (or enough of it) to help hold it to the walls/roof and glue is key.

What about attaching it to the inside then, like staple to the inside walls of the trailer? To create an insulating layer that keeps it warmer at night and cooler during the day? Or would durability still be a problem?

My gut feeling is that you would be challenged to quantify --even with electronics-- any value the stuff has.

Teardrops need to be vented even in cold weather. Otherwise, they become uncomfortably humid and condensation is likely to form on the inside.

The answer is to insulate.

Mylar, Reflectix etc are 99.99% useless in a mobile context

Not actually even classified as insulating, R-value near zero.

A reflective surface and/or shade on the outside yes is helpful reducing heat entering the skin.

Ok, so just white paint on outside and thin ridgid insulation on inside. That'll work, thanks for the advice.
