Paul Elkins just came up with a new design

I just got these from Paul this morning...

Not only has Paul been working on a Pod which can be build with only 2 sheets of coroplast, he's also been working on a heater/stove/lantern which gets fresh air from outside, and vents the co and soot to the outside! Very nice!

Though I haven't used a Coleman lantern since the '70s, and haven't even lit the Northstar dual-fuel I've had for 9 months...I seem to remember being told not to use it in an enclosed room. But, if enclosed in Elkins' device

it would be safe to use and furnish both heat and light, in the trailer or sleep-pod. right? or wrong?

If you can enclose your lamp in Paul's enclosure, and not overheat anything in the nearby vicinity, you should be good to go. Someone let me know if I am missing something.

Just a "what if?" question. I've no idea whether it's feasible to do so, how many BTU's of heat are generated, or what materials would be required for safety. It just seemed possible with modifications. My all-plywood 4x8 just wouldn't be big enough for the heat and light given off, but it might work for a metal-walled cargo or canned ham or standy.

I like this...both the shelter and the heat. Y'all be sure to get the pipe that is for heated use.

Normally in early spring and late fall I use a UCO Candlelier in my teardrop, not cold enough to use the catalytic heater, but cold enough (at least for me) to be uncomfortable, for deep winter I use an alpaca wool blanket, which is as warm as a reindeer skin blanket and the coleman pro cat, remember always to leave the top vent fully open to prevent CO2 poisoning.

The candlelier has three candles that last around 9 hours each, you can light one, two or three depending on the heat level you want, it has the added benefit to dry the air, and minimizes moisture build up in the teardrop. I use it between 20 degrees and 40 degrees, if it goes below 20 I use the catalytic heater, it ( Coleman pro cat) has kept me warm down to -10f, and I am sure it will work if I ever go camping in colder weather than that.

I like this design, I always thought that you don't need 4 ft of height where your feet are and with this design it has less cubic foot of air to heat. The end of the video reminds me of me. If I could spend less time looking for the tape measure, screw driver, hammer, etc., I might get more done. Darn stuff hides more than it use to.

I think it might be better to keep the walls 'full height',
where it shows as very low, and put in a couple of different
depth shelves or divide the over-space in half and have one side
the 'full' height and do two shelves on the other side. Some storage
or a place to put whatever possessions there might be up off
the floor and out of the sitting/sleeping area would be beneficial.

Don't forget that CO2 is 1.5 times heavier than air.
