I'm towing my tiny camper with a 1998 Ford E150 van.

A 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. 4cyl + awd = not a ton of power. It was definitely a factor in choosing the lightest 5ft wide teardrop I could find.

So since our other old Plymouth wagon still needs a lot of work, my wife and I decided to buy another wagon that is more roadworthy for towing and other things.
Our 1967 Plymouth Fury III wagon. This winter I will be getting it ready for long trips next season.

* I owned a sorta similar Mopar product from 69-71, when it got T-boned on an icy road by a '59 PINK CADILLAC (of all things). The Caddy backed-up and drove off, while I had a wheel stuck in a drainage culvert. I still dream of driving it, a 1967 Dodge Monaco 500 2-dr hardtop, with 383 4-bbl. + Torqueflite. Fast and comfortable, but having to service the drum brakes every other week (I was a young college student with a long commute) was its' only weak point. Wish I still had it. Enjoy yours!

My 2009 Scion 'XD' is a 1.8 liter Toyota 4 cyl with a 5 spd manual transmission. I was able to get 26mpg towing my 4x6 V-nose cargo trailer before the mods.
We've added 400# and 5 feet of length going from 10' and 760 lbs to 15' and 1000 lbs. The Beavers Bend gathering April 20th will be it's maiden voyage!

It's a pleasure to see other small cars towing their trailers! Now that I've spent a night in mine, officially making it a TTT, I finally feel worthy to share what I use to tow it:

2017 VW GTI with 160,000+ miles and tuned for power...

I'm still planning but right now, my goal is a trailer light enough to pull behind my prius. However, I have two kids who drive and and my sister and her family live locally, so it's possible other folks might end up using it. That is, if I ever start (and finish) the project. For that, my husband needs to find a job. *sigh* At least the planning will take a while, so I've got something to do in the meantime. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep from perseverating about building it by using my time planning!

New '22 Chev Colorado 3.6L V6, 8sp-tran, 2wh drive with factory towing pk & brake controller = after 8500+ miles so far = 'GOOD'.... EPA MPG rated for 18city/25hy/21combined average - so far all MPG's have been right on the numbers++. First tow trip to N. Calif. in Sept.= 1765 miles/93.7gal = 18.84mpg (part of this trip included a good "up-hill climb" around the back side of Mt. Rainier). The PU has a max trailer tow weight rating of 7000lbs which I should be good on being my teardrop right now weighs in at 1900 total lbs. maxed out. (axle weight=1720lbs-toungue=180lbs.) which leaves me 'room' for some more add-on future lb. space if need be.....

Just swapped the Bronco Sport for a Maverick with 4K tow package. Planning on towing in some bigger mountains next year.
