Towing and wiring with a 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

Hello!

We are thinking of purchasing a 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid which will tow our future teardrop. With trailer brakes the vehicle is rated for 2,000 lbs towing / 200 lbs tongue weight. Our teardrop will be comfortably within those limits (and will have brakes).

My main concern is the wiring. I know I will need to install a hitch, brake controller, and 7 pin harness on the vehicle. From what I understand the Tucson hybrid does not have an accessible 12V battery to run a wire from. I'm interested in having the TV charge the teardrop, but I'm not sure if it is possible without access to the TV's battery.

Does anyone have experience towing with a Tucson hybrid, or have any other guidance? (This is all new to me...)

Just a few ideas:

1) Check with the dealer's service guys. They should be able to tell you more.

2) I have never needed to recharge my trailer battery but my trips are seldom more than 5 days and I only use the battery for LED lights and the occasional 12v fan.

3) As an alternate suggestion, perhaps invest in a solar system to recharge your trailer battery.

as S.Heisley says to do here = do a Hyundai research of recalls = FYI, there is/was some-kind of 'on-going' 'factory installed' trailer wiring/hitch problem -recall/service bulletin notice - they had a few years back (maybe was with the ??Santa Fe mini-PU?? if I remember correctly??..........it may have nothing to do with the vehicle you are speaking of here...........but....maybe. ?????......

Don't know about the Hyundai Hybrid but i have 2020 Kia Sportage AWD My teardrop is less than 700 lbs and the Sportage has 1800 # tow capacity. When towing the teardrop the Kia goes in to limp mode randomly and the gas mileage goes to about 14 mpg KIA could never give me an answer on why so just something to think about I now tow the teardrop with my pickup
