Nope. But I built it with the same methods I wrote about in my book–-with the exception that the exterior sheathing is 1/8" Baltic birch, not the 1/4" I use in the book.

You'll find that .040 aluminum adds a lot of weight.

Tony

I looked up some weights of .032 and was surprised!

Guess I need to find some published data on weight per square foot the epoxy/glass adds to encapsulate the assembled cedar plank panels.

one element most folks don't know/understand it that the CLC design has no framing like most builds

their kits are composed of okoume plywood which is drop dead beautiful and as light or lighter than other species

if you get one of their precut kits the parts fit ... period

except for foamies i doubt you would be able to beat their weight

John brought one to the WoodenBoat Festival @ Port Aransas along w/ a plethora of his little boats and the finer boatbuilders were quite impressed

as mentioned above it would be best suited for one OR a young couple in the earlier stages of their relationship

My 1947 Kit reproduction has a scale weight of 800#. That weight includes the rectangular steel grid frame, torflex axle and 15” wheels, original style fiberglass fenders, memory foam mattress, 2-burner stove and a SLA battery but does not include beer in the built-in ice box or water in the 5-gal onboard tank.

The galley on this early trailer design was quite simple and I think this is one area where modern builders get into trouble with weight— cabinets are really heavy. A simple design, even when solidly built, can still come in well under 1000#.

Where do I find this “list of completed campers” ?

I have poked around the forum a bit, but nothing jumped out at me. Thanks,

Wendell

Check out: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56787

You can see the range of weight varies considerably. This gives you the opportunity to search for the lightest in a given size range. Then check the build log for the actual build parameters.

Have Fun,
Pete

That’s a great resource, thanks!

I printed the pages, but the resolution makes it tough to read. Maybe just my old eyes.

Number two is my plan.
Bought 1000 lb torsion axles  that should help.

Put the posts into a spread sheet and you can easily blow them up and
