Hey gang. Been out of the loop for a bit. Haven't been feeling well. Going to try my best to get there but am unable to make reservations at this time. Can't wait to show my new Flamingo surprise. Wanda said to say high to everyone. Alan

Aug campout

Postby David Niver » Mon Jul 18, 2005 6:15 pm

Hi,
I hope we can make it that weekend. It shouldn't take but a couple of hours to get there from Chattanooga.
I hope to use the new tow vehicle, a 1969 Dodge snub nose van.
I'll know more about free time after the first weekend in Aug.

Hey Alan,
Hope you are back on your feet for the Helen campout. If your Flamingo surprise is anything like your Flamingo Militia, I can't wait to see it.

David,

It would be nice to see Tennessee represented at one of our get togethers. You should also go ahead and register for the Fall Crawl at Davidson River in Brevard,NC for this October. Look in the SouthEast section for the Fall Crawl event. We had about 10 trailers there last year and we are hoping for at least 15 plus this year. Hope to see you in Helen,GA.

Do you guys think it would be cheaper (fewer miles) to go from Fayetteville NC through Charlotte to Helen or 95 to 20 to Atlanta (all xway). Funds are a little tight this month and am trying to figure out how to make this one. We haven't seen you all in a while and Wanda really wants to go.

Alan,
When we had a place in Helen it took 3 1/2 hours from here to get there, I forget the mileage. We live at exit 22 on I-20 that is 22 miles from the GA line and 56 miles from Columbia. We go across country on back roads, it is the fastest and shortest from here, would be the same from Columbia. Let us know if you want to hook up, we were planning on leaving here Friday morning and coming back Monday. We have a guest bedroom, you would be more than welcome to spend the night here, going and coming if you would like to make this a half way stop. Or if you prefer we have electric and water hook-up's for the Teardrop.

After a lot of mapping I think we will go by way of Charlotte through Greenville. Seems to be the most direct and maybe a bit more scenic as opposed to all Xway route. Chip: Will bring stove so you can cook gourmet flamingo . any word yet on TD sale ? Let me know soonest and I'll buy your site and you can camp with us if you want. I do have a two man tent you can use.

Heavy horse doovers ain't a bad idea. We always have a few meals like that around the holiday season. It works for me. Don't know what Frank and Linda might have in mind for the grub Saturday night, Hopefully they will chime in.

We or I should say, I, have add a few new staple items to the tear........pickle juice and crown.....thank you Chip. :applause: Now I have to find a place for the shot glass 8)

Dan and Jane were talking about the Unicoi Lodge and thier buffet. Might do a little grazin' for a meal or two

We were thinking about the Unicoi would be a great idea, a change, they have lot's of room, and it's very informal. Course we have Friday night also and we could do both. They are also having singing at the lodge Sat night. We were going to go down town and bum around Sat afternoon, they also have a nice "country" resturant there also.
Anna Ruby Falls is a nice hike, and beautiful sites also.

What's the consenious of the group? Anything is fine with us.
