Just reserved Site 13 and have gotten the day off work on Friday, so will be pulling in 2 - 3pm on Friday.

How does some good baking potatos with all the fixins (Butter, Sour Cream, Cheese, Bacon) sound.

I can bring some fruit to go with breakfast too.

Looking better and better!!!

You'all are gonna get there ahead of me. My plans to go out tomorrow night went down the proverbial crapper today. We can discuss it over the weekend around a campfire and the beverage of choice. Play nice until I get there Friday around 5 or 6. The early birds can pick out which of the two sites I reserved will be the designated party site and I'll set up on the other.

I am sorry to inform all that I will not be able to make it to the campout this weekend. I have the flue  the Dr. said no way I have to rest. This thing hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. I have been fealing bad a few days and hoped it would go away. I did my best to talk the Dr. saying it would be ok to go but he said no you do not want to get everybody else sick. So I have to say sorry.
Kevin :(

Sorry to hear that you won't be making it; but the Doc's probably right about getting the rest!! We'll struggle through somehow without you and we promise not to talk about you behind your back.

OK ..... Backup plan for Saturday breakfast. I'll grab a couple dozen eggs and make scrambled. I'm not set up for toast or rolls; I'll figure somethin out before I get there.

It's a little after 5:00AM the day before the big day and I'm getting ready to head out the door for work. I'll check the forums again tonight for any last minute changes; but I will see you all tomorrow.

As of right now, it looks like 8 to 10 people attending, unless there are unexpected/unannounced visitors.

Y'all drive safely!!

Just got "finished" (you're never finished) loading up/un-mothballing the camper.

Probably going to leave Southaven around 4:30 or so...
ETA of about 5:30 or 6:00.

Looking forward to it!

P.S. We cook some mean bacon... We'll bring the strips of pig!
(The Pig rules breakfast.) :Flippin Burger:

A Success

It may have been a small gathering compared to some others; but Mississippi's first official gathering is now history and was a smashing success.

The part of the park we were in was only a couple hundred yards from the spillway for Grenada Lake and at night you could hear the water rushing through when they fully opened the spillway. It's hard to believe that the campsites we occupied were under three feet of water last weekend.

I think I spent way too much time worrying that something was going to go drastically wrong. Once the Friday night campfire was lit and everybody gathered to relax and tell tales, it was fantastic. Saturday morning community breakfast got delayed a bit and became Saturday Brunch complete with mamosas. The Saturday pot luck we had more than enough food and quite a selection to choose from. In between everybody did their own thing, whether it was fishing, sight seeing, relaxing with a book or playing on the laptop (in between giving the obligatory tours to the curious of course). 8)

One and all pitched in wherever necessary this morning to help break down and the last of us pulled out just shy of 1:00PM.

I'm not the best with a camera; but here's the link to my pics if anybody cares to view them.

The weather (except the wind) was beautiful! :icedtea:
We couldn't have asked for better.

Our hats' off to the Mississippi Director for coordinating all of this and cooking some great steaks! Thanks Jerry!

We'd also like to thank C&B for the breakfast fruit  & King Cake (even though the Baby was rigged) Just Kidding!
