Ross Wade wrote: Seriously, the good news is, they are looking forward to us returning and Chris was wondering if Frank is going to be driving his Hotrod, The bad news is..."YOU CAN NOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE MOVEABLE AXLE ON A SINGLE SITE". Did you notice the quote marks, the Park Ranger stated that this is the Forestry Law. So bottom line is, only One trailer and a tent is Allowed on a single site. I am thinking that this is a safety issue incase the park needs to be evacuated.

As for an Over-Flow loop or loops....... Sycamore would be the best and then Dogwood. Both Chris and Susan stated that these two loops are on a First Available basis and it would be wise to get them no later then That Friday morning. The Fall Colors will be at thier prime.

So does this mean that if you have a DOUBLE site you can have two tears there? Does someone have a double site to share?
SINWAGON -- did you reserve a site? I hope to come (might be hell or highwater at this point! ) and would love to get there sometime on that thursday but be close to the rest of the gang that is NOT lucky enough to be in the Apple loop....

Breakfest never works. People get up at different times of the mornings. It has been tried in the past and well it sucked. The pot luck dinners seem to do the best but id your are not local and want to sightsee it cuts in to that time. Anyway a point was made on what day the dinner was to be held :QM Saturday or Sunday. My two cents.

The pot luck will be Saturday night and probably around 6:00 or 6:30.

When getting a double site: this means that you will be paying for TWO sites (if you want the whole site for yourself) or you can split the cost with someone else. I hope this makes sence.

Dennis,

I remember at Voorhes State Park last year, there were a few folks who tried to do a Saturday Morning Breakfast and you are right......it didn't work too well. Everybody is on a different schedule and some of us were wanting to do a little canoeing before lunch. As it turned out, we didn't hit the water until 1:00 or 2:00 that afternoon.

But with a Continental Breakfast, it could work....'cause there would be no cooking involved. Who knows........................

We'll be driving down from SW VA for our first gathering and hope to get there Friday afternoon. We don't have a campsite reserved, so we are hoping (there's that word "hoping" again!) to get something that isn't too far from everyone else.

We will probably be bringing our canoe & kayak with us and are wanting to do an easy river trip on Saturday. If anyone wants to join us, it would be nice to have the company - AND the shuttle! We'll try to keep the river trip within an hour's drive of camp, if anyone wants to come.

Drop us an email (eddytrn*at*i-plus*dot*net) if you are interested in the river trip or simply look for the tear in the campground. Oh, that's right! Look for the tear pulled by a Forester and the canoe & kayak on top! It'll be so nice not to be the "only" tear in camp.

Cold water sports??!!

Postby Mark & Andrea Jones » Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:21 am

Hey, it'll still be October! We could very well have enough warm weather to be wearing shorts! Let's think positive about it. Besides, the water will still be warm! Oh, well. I guess everyone's idea of "cold" is different. Since we used to paddle 12 months out of the year, the concept of "cold" and "water" together usually entails a drytop, warm cap, and neoprene gloves.

Yes, you're definitely right on getting there early, but its going to depend upon when we can get on the road. And being 4 hrs away, we'd have to leave at the butt-crack of dawn to get there before noon. Just don't know if that will happen.

Chip,
Still doing your part spreading the word of PJ and Crown. Today the gathering, tommorow the World. This might spread faster than you think if you keep this up. Heck you even got Andrew thinking about it in the UK.

We all welcome you to the group Mark and Andrea and get there as soon as you can. We will be getting there Thursday morning. We canoe a little but not this time. We will have our 2 dogs with us and they can be a hand full.

Woody, just think of Chip as our Official Greeter. Walmart has their greeter and we have Chip  and he does a fine job at that

Ross,
"Official Greeter" Oh now we are giving titles at the gatherings are we  Chip standing there smiling with instead of a roll of happy face stickers :D , he will have a shot glass of Crown and a jar of PJ. That works for me

Just who is in charge of the "ROOT PATROL" that is the person I want to know after being "Greeted" by Chip   Sounds like this should be a team effort for the initiating newbies to the what a true night at a gathering could possibly entail     I know from personal experience, being meet by a smiling Chip at the gate at Little Talbot it was going to be a really good time on my first gathering. However the rest was kinda of a blur from that point on as I recall, actually I don't recall

almost october!

Postby oklahomajewel » Tue Sep 27, 2005 10:41 am

How funny,,... I was just thinking this morning about the long trip for me, no teardrop started yet because of the $$ but trying to see if I will make the drive anyway.
It would be about a 20 hr drive for me, :? But I can easily get from OKC to NASHVILLE the first day, hopefully stay with a friend there, then make it to Brevard by noon the next. Same thing back home.
I think I'll make some offers to 'rent' a teardrop instead of pitching a tent!

Will the fall leaves be pretty that late in October??? I SURE hope so.

The other thing is the man I'm seeing lately has a 5th wheel and likes rv-ing in the fall so it is still possible that we might both make the trip and be camping in another loop but please don't bar me from partying with y'all!!! :(
I'm still trying to convince him, not convert him, that a Tear is something I want. I wouldn't make him get rid of the big rig but who knows yet if we'll be dating for a long time! haha

I soooo want to come to meet Chip, Woody, Ross and everyone else that's been so much help on this board!!!

Julie
