We couldn't make North/South but opted for a trip closer to home. Camped in Valley Head at Sequoyah Caverns Campground, day trip to Mentone, Fort Payne (the 350 mile long yard sale) and did the Cavern tour at Sequoya. Met up with some Civil War re-enactors, they will be staging the Battle of Missionary Ridge at this campground in November if anyone is interested.

Sherrie,

Looks like you and Tommy had a good time. But you weren't kidding when you said he didn't care for photo-ops! Glad to see you out there camping. Looks like a nice area.

I'll have to check that out-the wooded area behind the glam shot looks really nice.

Yeah man, Mentone is a cool place.

Did y'all make the drive north towards Chattanooga where you're up on the ridge? The road is the 4 way crossing right in Mentone and it starts off paved then turns to dirt. Fantastic views.

If you come from Summerville, Ga. when you get into Mentone, turn right. (From Fort Payne....turn left) That's the road. Nice drive.

Great pics. I've thought about camping at De Soto State Park.
