Teardrop group camping in Florida

Has anyone tried to get a group together in Florida and adjacent states to camp in Florida. Maybe after the storm clean-up is done we could start an annual thing going. Being this far south everything is some what far away It would be fun to have maybe a local gathering or something. Just a thought

Woody, Buford here. I live in Palm Bay and travel to South Fl all winter. Will be up and down I-95 till next summer. Working on my next tear now and hope to have it done in the next few months during my spare time. Will be happy to help get something setup for the Central and South Fl area if you'd like.

Can't camp now as my mini-hopper is in Ga. But when the next tear gets done plan on doing a lot all over Fl.

BufordT,
I was thinking that there is enough of us in florida to make this happen. Since most of the gatherings are a ways from here. Distances alone make a weekend gathering up north or out west, make it a week long plus event with the roundtrip drive. Which means I could only attend one event a year due to time off of work. I have been in contact with Todd from the Tearjerkers and might be able to start a new chapter for florida and adjacent states. There are a lot of nice places like the Florida keys to north florida and georgia that could be easliy acessed by those in florida and georgia for example without spending alot of time behind the wheel. I would love to go to all the established gatherings nation wide, but, It's not going to happen until I can retire. I propose to establish a gathering(s) for us locals (SE USA) and make it a annual event like all the other established groups and have some fun in the sun of our own. Let me know what you think?

Woody,

I think that's a great idea. I know there are others that live in the Fl area. If I'm correct I think there are about 10 people all total. I don't know all there names and I don't know if they are interested.

How about we meet up in the next couple of months and work something out.

as far as a Florida group,,that sounds like a nice place to head in the winter,,try not to have the site too far south and If I can it would be great to get some sunshine in the late winter,, ya'll put it together and I'll try to come down,,

Chip,

The Florida Chapter of the Tearjerkers is born. I talked to Todd and he will post it on their site. Hopefully, we can get a good response and start planning the first gathering(s) soon. I do not know how badly damaged the campgrounds north of me are. The ones were I am appear to be fine. It is in the infancy of planning right now. I want to include anyone regardless of where they live. This to have some fun in the sun and enjoy yourself. And above all meet people and enjoy those little moments in life when you can. Buford has expressed an interest in this as well. We will figure it out together.

Thinking St. Augustine might be a good place. It's about 4 hrs from you Woody and A little over that for Chip.

Jabber might be interested. Jim in Sav won't be that far away and Palen in Naples could make it also.

What do you think.

Ok since it has to be a long weekend. How about next year. 2005 over the Memorial Day weekend. That's May the 28th, 29th and 30th. Will give us time to locate a good CAMP SITE there and lost of time to get reseverations for it. What do you think? Plus will give me the next few months to get my next tear in order and built.
