OK!!! It's a definite!!! The weekend of June 26, 27, 28, 2009 will be the next teardrop (and TTT) event in Mississippi. Tents are welcome too if you don't have a trailer.
We have been offered the use of space to camp and hold a gathering at the Greenville airport (the one that used to be an Air Force base).
I am sharing the information that was transmitted to me.....
Along the creek is open to the public and would be no issue what so ever. We have lots of fields available too. We have over 2000 acres! We used to be an Air Force Base.
If you choose to camp away from the location of the restrooms I will rent porta-potties and will hook up an adaptor to some fire hydrants for fresh water.
I have good contacts with the media and can guarantee at lease one TV station coming out, most likely two, the newspaper doing a story and several radio stations doing something. If you like, I can schedule a telephone interview for you with an interview show on the local radio whether we have an event or not.
The local Convention and Visitors Bureau is interested in helping with an event, either here at the airport, "my preference", or any of the parks in the area.
June 26 and 27 and 28 are the dates for the annual Balloon Festival, which y'all could get involved with, either as a spectator or as a crew member which is fun and usually winds up with a balloon ride. There is a carnival and a concert that Saturday night as well. That event is not at the airport, but close enough, 5 miles, so it wouldn't be loud or crazy at the camp site.
There is a 18 hole golf course on site.
BTW, there would be no charge for the camp sites at the airport.
I think this could really be fun. No telling what else we might conger up.
Besides the balloon festival, there also burial mounds and casinos near by for site-seers and thrill seekers.
Was also informed that if the weather turns to crap, there is enough hangar space available to make it an indoor event if necessary. There would be some things we would have to abide by in that situation; but nothing too restrictive. Personally, I would rather see the weather co-operate!! Or park on the hard surface around the hangar.
Just a reminder though, plan this as "No Hookups!"

P.S. As soon as I come up with a name for the event and some appropriate graphics, I will re-post this in a separate and appropriate titled thread.
