Make your own siding instructions

As some of you may or not know I make my own aluminum trailer siding.

http://serroscottycamperenthusiasts.com ... gfinal.pdf

If you are near the Philadelphia PA area and would like to see a "hands on" demonstration of this technique I will be making and installing the siding for my 66 Scotty the weekend of Feb 28.

Anyone who is interested may stop over to my shop in Morton, PA. 19070 to view this process.

Just let me know your comming.

You can email me at [email protected]

This is a very easy and cost saving process that can be adapted to almost any trailer with "Run" siding.

Happy Trails

Len

Hi Len

I was wondering if there was a possibilty in making a small video clip of your demonstration for those that cant make it over to see your demonstration?

Best regards

I'll see what I can do. My camera man (my son) doesn't like to get up early.

It would be cool to webcam the whole process then we could all watch it. I thought about doing that with the weekender... a real time build over a weekend streaming online.Does twitter host real time vids?

Looks So Good!

That siding looks so good and it is very kind of you to post this info. There is an old truck camper that has that kind of siding and I walk by it each day. Thank you, Cathy :applause:

That's great, Len. One thing I really like about this board is the chance to learn new things.

Just one thing -- Where do you get aluminum so cheap? The shipping alone would be that much for me here in AZ.

Home Depot, You can rent a Trim Brake there too.

This is the aluminum coil stock that the Aluminum Siding guys cover your windows with.

Its different aluminum than what your used to looking for for trailers, same thickness (as RV ALUM. siding), different shape. Its 2'X50'...one roll will do a 4X4X8 trailer with leftovers and if your real good at math you can get a 5X4X8 out of a roll.

Happy Trails

Some box stores don't carry it. HoPo's/Lowe's have two or three different designations for the size of their stores. The smaller suburban stores don't usually have it.The larger, inner city stores usually have it. If you can't find it at the box stores go to a vinyl siding supplier like Norandex or Alcoa. They stock it in many colors as well as mill finish. Roofing suppliers usually carry it, too.

I have secured a video guy who will be taping the process but he can only do it on a weeknight.

Sooo.... The demonstration Feb 28, 2009 is off.

Thanks for everyone's interest. I will post the video ASAP.

Happy Trails
