Looking nice!!!

I love that countertop. How deep is it, and did you buy the whole thing preassembled?

Also, have you played with that stove yet? That's the HF model, right? I liked the looks of it when I recently saw it, but also, what is the center burner for? Like, does it come with a griddle pan that goes over that burner that they don't show in the ad, and that I didn't see at the store?

I can't figure out how it's different than the other two circular burners.

The countertop is from Lowes 4' long by about 25" deep overall.. as for the stove I got it from HF as far as the center burner goes it's just a long burner and I havent tried it out yet....

How much did the countertop cost you? I love that.

Maybe I can do the same thing and trim it down--my counterop space is really narrow.

Just $35? That's the whole top with the framing and everything, right? Not just the mica?

Greg,

Great job once again, that is a great looking tear you got going! Can't wait to see it at one of the Texas area gatherings. Of course I gotta get working on mine!

Greg, one question for you, the fan, is that computer fan, or is that related to your ECI cooler? (I thought the ECI was in the front) Is that just to add circulation?

Ira, just go to Lowe's or HD for the counter top, both stores carry them, and yep, all you have to do is build the support stucture (under cabinets/frame), place the countertop, all done. I was looking at that as well, however, I won't have a full 24" for the top area, and didn't want to cut the backsplash off, figured I would trash the top.

Again, well done Greg!

I only have like 13", but at that price, maybe I can trim the front off and finish it off, and keep the back splash.

Not a bad thought. I went with one of the ponderosa pine large panels to use as a counter top 3/4 thick, it is made by joining some smaller planks together. Lowe's had them. Think I gave about 20 bucks (probably a little less) for a 24 x 48. Trim to fit, a little spar urethane, and viola, a countertop

I trimmed the backsplash off of my Lowes 6' countertop. A couple of things to keep in mind:

Tape the surface of the CT where the cut will be, this will reduce chip out of the lam surface.

Tape the bottom metal "table" surface of your circular saw, this will reduce any scratching of the finished lam surface.

Use a fine toothed blade to reduce chip out.

On my 6' CT, when I sawed off the backsplash the CT curled UP on the ends.

I had to use a 1 x 3 oak cleat (screwed & glued) on the underside of the CT, it needed to be clamped to pull the bow out until the glue dried.

Cheers,

Coop

Coop,

Glad you brought up the curling problem. One thing which helps when you remove backsplashes from countertops is to glue and screw cleats on the bottom side BEFORE removing the backsplash. Much easier BEFORE it bows!
