Had a little more time, so I figured I'd see about taking the deck off and removing the rest of the lift mechanism. What a pleasant surprise when I discovered that the factory original Coleman construction had exactly ZERO fasteners holding the floor to the frame. It lifted right off. I guess they figure the uprights were enough to keep the deck from sliding. And the weight was enough to keep it from bouncing off. Still, seemed very strange to me.

But, that gave me plenty of time to remove the entire lift mechanism along with the remaining water and gas lines. I am now down to a bare frame! A little sanding, a little paining, and it's ready to build back up!

Ok I forgot the electrical. so I hooked up the wires to the lights. I didn't like the connectors they sent so I took my time and got out the soldering Iron. and I added the first thing I bought wiring protectors. and I cut three pieces of wood :D

Vedette, no sweat, don't worry, just a little bit more to do........like interior varnish, exterior paint, undercoating, lights and wiring, registration and license, roof rack, roof vent, removable bumper, removable fenders, new mattress, etc. Lets see, one month= 4 weeks @ 56hr per week= 224 hours. See, plenty of time for just a few incidentals, how a-boot that? I'll see you guys at the Dam gathering, Wednesday, with bells on. Can't wait to see your one-of-a-kind rig.
8) ;) Roly, the li'l ol' So Calif woody guy. ~~

Hi Roly
With only those few small things to do......you should be finished by the end of the week!
I am waiting to see your new rig as well.
Also if things work out I hope to see your 1/2 Nelson, once you get the repairs made after that accident on Sunday.

Today was a cleanup day for me. I got back from the dentist after work, and got my load of aluminum squared away. Started to move stuff from one side of the garage to the other so I could pull the trailer out into the sun. When you work in a small space, eventually you reach a saturation point where you spend more time falling over parts and tools than you do working, and I'd reached that point. I cooled my jets a little and just cleaned up and straightened. Talked to Grant a couple of times and got my trim list organized and purchased from him, and he'll bring some of it by when he and Kay come up on the 14th. the doors and fenders from Frank at Vintage arrived yesterday in perfect condition, per usual :D Wednesday will be for interior fitting and maybe taking the aluminum off the trailer and restocking it on its pallet so I can take the utility trailer and swap it for TD 2. I need to put my hands on stuff in it so I will remember what size everything is, so I can build them a nice new home in TD3. Once that's done, I'll have a pretty 5 x 10 teardrop for sale in time for the 20th Dam Gathering of the Tears.

Got to work on Miss Piggy for a short while today.
Installed galley handle, stained tool compartment lid, clear coated aluminum rail to hold wash basin in place, and installed safety reflector tape on under carrage.
Took more pictures for my album, but got stuck on the couch with a bottle of wine before I could download pictures.
Felt good to be back at it!

Scored a free truck canopy with two black tinted slider/screened windows  Got them off the canopy and now just need to cut out the holes on my trailer and screw them on. Pic's to come when done :)

I finished sanding down what's left of my 1977 boat trailer and a coat if primer. Just need to finish welding it up so I can start putting some camp trailer on it! So looking forward to some progress!

Worked on sealing the A/C exhaust so I can run it with the hatch closed at night (A/C inside the galley/storage compartment, of course). Drain board and tubing in the works. 104347104348. Did some interior tweaks as well104349104350104351104352. Getting closer to finalizing size and type of windows to put in, after I squeeze in all features I can.

biziedizie wrote:So how did you make out with the screens Kelly  :pictures:

Not so good. I mocked up the pop top with a sheet to make some templates for the screens and found that with a screen on the back I loose all my headroom as the angle of the top is all wrong. I didn't realize when standing in the trailer with the top up my head is out past the top edge of the roof out in the open air. So I've scrapped the whole Idea for now and decided to work on the windows instead.

Tidying up from the weekend trip just gone.

Restocking and organising for the next, two to three weeks hence.

The wheel bearings are running a touch higher than I like, I shall pull them off this week and have a butchers hook (look). Temperature assessed with the Mk 1 digit, a very sensitive and accurate instrument.

Apart from that it is all good.

Take it easy.
