Hey Ya'll,

My husband, Nick, and I are new teardrop owners. We bought a Little Guy Silver Shadow last fal, which we named Charlie the Tuna Can and we LOVE it! We live in Frisco, TX, which is part of Dallas metroplex. My husband is orginally from Eugene, Or and I hail from a small town in Louisiana, south of Shreveport, called Coushatta. We met at work eight years ago when we were both trainees out of college in corporate retail. We were friends for about two years before we got together. Fast forward seven years and we have been married almost five years and have an almost two year old, Jude. Jude went on his first camping trip last weekend. It was a little hairy but fun! Nick still works in retail but I'm now a home economist :R . We love camping and the outdoors. I enjoy kayaking and hiking in particular. My other hobbies include crafting, yoga, and reading. Nick is into hunting and would love to learn more about rock hunting/hounding. We have two dogs; a standard poodle and a miniature schnauzer. Neither of which will be camping with us.

I'm trying to talk Nick into wrapping Charlie with a wood theme and painting the fenders a bright a color. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on that? I also need to make curtains for the doors but I'm still undecided on how to attach the curtain rod or what kind to buy. I hope to upload pics soon but I'm a little lazy when it comes to reformatting. I'm also new to forums in general so hopefully I do't make an faux pases.

We are looking forward to meeting and talking with other tear droppers!

Hello, Nick's wife, for lack of another word. Good for you, to have found the joy of owning and camping in a teardrop trailer. I am sure your Little Guy TD is nice and weather proof, and to violate the exterior by cladding it with wood, is a proceedure I've not heard of before. I have a woody, and it is kind of like owning an old boat, needing a fresh coat of varnish every year or so. Painting the fenders, might tend to make it a bit to your liking, and if you check with the Hall of Fame, you will see what others have done with their own personal paint jobs. If you want to meet other teardroppers, I suggest you check out the Tearjerkers chapter in your area and try to attend some of the local gatherings in your neck of the woods. Good luck on your new-found camping interests.

Welcome! We live on the Fort Worth side of the metroplex. There are several Frisco-ites on the forum - Planovet, Caseydog, etc. Check out the South Central section of the forum if you haven't already. Our big gathering in the fall is LCG at Lake Bisteneau. We fill almost the entire park.

Take care,
Tom

Thanks for all the hellos, everyone! We def want to go to the LCG since my parents are so close. They can babysit and we can have fun!

Roly, we would wrap it with vinyl like some businesses do to their cars and trailers. Kinda like a big sticker. It would just LOOK like wood.

"In ACan" if you think you want to do the LCG, plan ahead. Campsites are already being reserved with Reserve America. There is still plenty to choose from but when people start thinking about it, they will go quickly. You can always cancel if you need to. Before you know it we will be planning for the Friday evening food, then the Saturday morning breakfast and then of course the Saturday evening pot luck. Not sure if you noticed, we don't go hungry. Hope yall can make it, baby or no baby.
