Whats The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods ?

It is forest fire weather here. Yup. We've been having warm temps with gusty east winds. On Saturday, a fire erupted about 5 miles away. I live upwind so have been out of the smoke. The fire burned logging slash and some saplings. It still isn't listed as controlled, but is surrounded by roads.

Well, the one here was started somehow by people--had to be people in units that were logged a year ago.

It used to be that we started broadcast burning around this time of year before it was a bad thing to do. So, I guess it was a badly planned slash burn.

All the doom and gloom we had forecast a few days back turned out to be just gloom but no doom.
Fine day today, bit cool, first time I have had long trousers on for around five months.
Winter is not too far away, it is trying to be winter but not quite making it yet.

The weather was warm and humid most of the day until it started raining for hours, then it was wet, warm and humid! That didn't stop me though. I met my girlfriend at our usual halfway spot (I live in the boonies and she in the suburbs) and luckily there are two lakes with lots of parks around so I brought the Prowler and we checked in to camp even though we knew we would only be there a few hours, but it was so late in the day, we couldn't use the day use area so whatever! It had already stopped raining, and the temps dropped and the humidity lifted some and we got the site and had a nice evening. I told her we will call it "Speed Camping" haha The campground actually locks the gate @ 10pm and you are literally locked in, so we left @ 9:50pm but still had a great time.

Maybe I shoulda posted in the what did you do with your camper today thread!

Can't stop myself. New business model. "Camp sites by the hour"

Our weather has been real spring weather past few weeks. Last night about night fall a real thunder and lighting storm came up for about an hour. Power went out for a couple of hours. I fired up some Coleman lanterns and a stove and continued living. The air smelled great. This morning I fired up my tractor and graded my gravel road. Been waiting for just such a storm so I could grade it.

Temps on my patio were 99 degrees, but the thermo in my car clocked in at 108 degrees today. Hmmm, the sensor is probably near the exhaust pipe.........
Roly, suffering through the So Calif heat........for a while, I think I'll head up into the local mountains tomorrow.

Starting to get overnight temps around 37F. It does not get much colder than that here even mid winter.
There is a big radiator at the end of the street called the Southern Ocean. Our end of it stays around 68 degrees, stops it from getting really cold.

Its been raining cats and dogs here on the edge of the Coral Sea. Our property is soaked to the limit now and the water is not draining away. The word from the weather bureau is that this coming winter will be the wettest on record. I finally fitted a new engine to our ride-on mower, started to cut the 3 foot high grass and it worked perfectly until the next day. The electric clutch on the drive shaft has had a big hiccup and refuses to work. More problems, hope I can get the clutch fixed and grass cut before the rain starts. Only have to cut about 10 acres.

Slow. You know what happens when they start cutting alfalfa to get it to dry. Yup. It starts to rain. I call cutting hay "Rain Dancing".

Wet! Third time the weather radio went off after the first batch of storms went through. Severe thunderstorm warnings for the morning. Earlier in the evening a previous set dropped 1.23" of rain, and now another set of storms are on the way. I was a bit worried earlier. Two counties to the west I had a cell heading south. Two counties to the north was a big line of them one heading south east and expanding out in a big arc. A county to the south was one heading north. I don't like it when the storms can't agree on which way to go.

Cool and dry, blue skies and white clouds, here in sunny So Calif. Took a drive into the local mountains for a nice lunch and chatting with the locals, trying to sell me some of there wares. OK, I bought a few hand made wooden treasures, to add to my collection of similar different accomplishments. It always amazes me, the one of a kind creations, that folks can create.

A winters day here, or morning any way. Temp in the brz around 37F. Blowing a gale out of the south. The ocean is a bit noisy with it. Been raining all night. Right time of year for the farmers.
Retirement is great, I might have another coffee and head of back to bed and listen to the rain on the iron roof until the hour is more civilised.
