Hi

If you want a US made stove that will last a lifetime then the Partner stove may be worth looking at.

Hi Randy and Debbie

I think they start around $200. They are suppose to be great stoves but a little out of my price range

Below is a retail outfit that sells them, I'm sure there are others.

We already own a vintage suitcase stove. Just won't fit in the space provided. Max height is 5.5 inches

I don't know how you feel about E-bay but I found this while browsing deals.

When all else fails buy something that works great and break out the green paint! ;)

Those cast iron stoves look interesting to me. They look so rugged and durable. There's something appealing about that. It just seems to fit with the great outdoors.

That cast iron stove at that link is enormous. But camp chef makes a nice one and stansport makes a classic cast iron blind stove that I almost bought. Ihave used these several times in backcountry ski huts in Colorado and they work well in my experience. Seems well suited as a built in burner in a teardrop.

Hey Debbie, You've seen our Camp Chief Denali in action...uh, not the best or easiest stove I've ever used. But, now that I've had the chance to learn what it likes, I've had better success with it. It reeeeealy wants to be level and if you turn the heat to just about out, it works pretty darn well. The grill section is fine for non-greasy meats but burgers make big flames.

However, you also have seen our little single burner butane stove in action and it's awesome!!! They make a 2 burner one for around $30. Just sayin.

We took "Solitude" out for an overnighter (local state park), used the new Camp Chef Everest for cooking breakfast. While we found the throttle a bit touchy---have to find the right spot on the dial for low---this stove really cooks. Certainly don't have to stand around waiting for water to boil.

My propane stove is a stainless Brinkman from Walmart. I bought it over a Coleman for easier clean up and it was higher BTU than a comparably priced Coleman. One thing you will find is that it is hard to get low to be low enough with higher BTU stoves. You will probably have to use a flame diffuser.
