BUTTHUT to SCOTTY

Postby TENNJIM » Wed Jun 26, 2013 2:48 pm

Last Fall we picked up a very fine rebuilt Scotty from a fellow Forum member (Len) back in Pennsylvania. This month we delivered the BUTTHUT teardrop to my son and family in Oregon and they are very excited. Our nearly four year old grandson is the most excited and will grow up with teardrops in his blood, which makes us very happy about giving up the BUTTHUT. The Scotty was an exceptionally good looking trailer from the start with many extra features Len installed. To make it new to us, we did some repainting, replaced all the foam, added some mods, and redecorated keeping the original color schemes. It is the same length, only slightly wider, taller than our teardrop, and about 300 lbs heavier. We figure we are around 1300 to 1400 lbs loaded. The 2011 Subaru Outback (4 cyl.) pulls it well if we are patient on really steep western mountains. Going over to the dark side has not been all that difficult and we love the trailer. Below are pictures of what we are enjoying:

Lookin Good Jim. And thanks for the kind words.

I really miss that trailer and have made arrangements to build another Scotty this winter.

The next one will be the "Elusive 13' HiLander.

Very nice! I really like those Scotties. Does yours have the dropped foot well?

As our age increases - one of us turns 60 next month - a little more interior manuevering room than what our teardrop has is becoming more important. We're leaning toward a small standy / TTT ourselves.

Wolfgang, Len, aggie79, and Doug; really appreciate your comments. Danlott, thanks for bringing the pictures in. Len, we know you will have a great looking build on that 13' Hilander. Aggie79, it does have a drop floor, but Len kept it level with the entry instead of the additional drop on some Scotties. Two pictures from my Album were missed by me. One is the built-in porta-potty; the other one is the wheel hub and trim. Clicking on my album will show them.
