I like the way the Airstream Torpedo looks. And after watching you and KC put together y'all's foamy and hybrid builds. I think it will be constructed that way. I was going to give the fiberglass a go on finishing it out.

It does look like. Almost to the point of me copying it. Well I guess this will be Clint's version. The one I am planing will be bigger. Standie with a recessed floor. I will try to get some rough drawings up this weekend.

Tom,
I did see that one. It looks sharp and is part of my inspiration for this build. I would like to build this one all out of foam and fiberglass. May have to read the big foamy thread again to get ideas again.

Just wondering if any one knows off hand if fiberglass and foam stick good together? I know the last time I was reading in the foam section they where testing it.

Fiberglass reinforced epoxy and will work, although there was at least one report of problems with heat of cure being an issue. Others, that from what I gather have more practical experience, say that this should not be a problem at normal mix ratios and batch sizes.

Polyester resin based "fiberglass" will melt the foam.

Some people get kind of prickly if you just say fiberglass w/o specifying the epoxy resin, as this seems to default to the assumption that the resin is polyester.

I have used epoxy and glass over a blue foam mold for a small project and can confirm that these materials are compatible.
