So . . . Everybody's gone to the cabin on the lake for the past few days I guess. No reading for me to catch up on here.

I'm about to start building a "shed in my back yard for the lawnmower, snow blower, yard tools, potting soil . . . It'll be around 4'X8' by 5' tall as it has to fit under the living room window at the back of the house. I was going to do the 1/2" chip board route but am now thinking I might use it as a test bed for fabric over the white bead board in maybe an inch and a half wall thickness with a plywood roof, as it's got to take some hefty snow from time to time as well as possibly my tomato pails. That is where we get the best sunlight. Only problem is I want side the shed with vinyl siding to match the house. Don't think nails will hold well in the foam.

Let in some 1x2 stringers strategically placed to hold the siding and you are golden!

We're here, we're all just busy building our TD's!

Check out the FoamStream, or Mary's Grits, or even my TPCE. There's no grass growing under any of these foamie projects!

So I guess what I'm hearing is - If I want the clover in my yard to go away and leave the grass alone, I need to start cutting some foam out there.

On a side note, the little picture that came up when this page opened this time was Barb B's TD. That avocado green on the natural wood combination looks really nice.

Jack, the foam dust goes away .... eventually .... With the Blu or Pink foam the bits are smaller and dissipate quicker .... with bead-board the beads take a while longer to leave... and tend to get tracked everywhere ... like in the House ... :frightened:

Somebody needs to do a caveman foamy. Shape the outside like a rock, and paint it with cave paintings. Make the door out of rough hewn wood. Have a pile of furs inside for the bed. The fire pit is a bowl shaped "rock". It likely can be formed from steel hammered into the shape of a rock bowl, and supported off the ground by tree branches also made form steel.

Well that’s one way to “ROCK" and Roll ....  Sorry , it’s still early ... ... :coffee:

Seriously ... now that we found an affordable local source for the 2” Blu foam , the thought of popping together another Foamie’ trailer is not out of the question .. something SIMPLE and Thrifty .. “ a spare trailer is a terrible thing to waste “ ... :R

"Somebody needs to do “ ... We always defer that process to the one who makes the statement ... :o

It's a men's store? Really?!

Postby kudzu » Thu Aug 01, 2013 9:35 am

Northern Tools was happy enough to accept my money when I bought my angle grinder last night. No problems selling a woman something she needed for a project. But when I suggest they get some work gloves in women's sizes I got the same response twice from two different employees, one a woman. "It's a men's store." The female employee said it under her breath in an annoyed tone. The male employee said it loud & proud while laughing. My response both times was, "The gloves don't have to be pink they just need to fit!" Grrrr!!! :x Yeah, sure. I wasn't really mad & will probably still shop there but it actually did frustrate me enough that I'm glad Tractor Supply is closer & gets more of my money. And I'll likely head to the big orange box when it's time for my jigsaw & router.

It's a men's store & we tomboys just get to spend money there.

K, Go to a horse feed store they have lots of women's gloves. The Government says that the most dangerous sports is horse sports and women are by far the most numerous. In other words women outnumber men in dealing with horses are almost 2 to 1 so.................... Just thought I would add that for our female egos. Most Feed stores will have numerous gloves for women in all fashions. From riding gloves to heavy cow skin to soft goat or lamb's wool lined. The closest Northern Tool (to me)is in Marietta and They jack up their prices and I can get most of what I want between Harbor freight, Home depot and Lowe's, and the local feed store or Tractor Supply ( they aren't cheap though). you need to get a local woman reporter to go under cover in the same store and have them write a news story about a. how women are treated, b. how they are only going to cater to men , c. openly prejudice against women!!!! Surprisingly how a news story can change the persona of stores , restaurants and other businesses.

It's OK, Mary. No news reports necessary. I wasn't really outraged just rather surprised. Also, annoyed at the inconvenience. Totally understand why there would be far fewer women's sized gloves. That's supply & demand. Just to have none & then point out the seemingly obvious reason took back a bit. The guy had kindly asked if I'd found everything I was looking for. Told him in a friendly way that I'd return to their store when they start stocking women's sizes. That's when he made the joke about it being a men's store. Am going to send a note to the store manager suggesting that it would be a nice idea to carry at least a few pairs of small sized work gloves for women using power tools. Will include a reminder that times have changed and more women are doing chores previously thought of as "man's work", mentioning the comments made by employees but will not include any details about those employees. They were not trying to be rude or sexists. Just pointing out the obvious.

Thanks for suggesting the feed store. Was already planning to go today & had not even thought to look for gloves there. Of course they'll have some. If they don't, Isaac will order them for me. Love my local stores! Those are just small so sometimes I have to wait for things. Patience isn't my best quality.
