spare tire

Postby Mary C » Mon Jul 29, 2013 4:24 pm

As a few of you know I started out on my way to CRA with my 3/4 built TD, in the rain from the AL/GA state line and 30 miles from home had a flat tire. I was lucky a tire place up the road had a tire and the truck stop put it on. I was able to stop in Anniston and walking through 6-8 inches of rain to purchase a spare. If you do not have a spare Get one now. I found out that the original tire had developed bubbles in the side walls, I was lucky, the air came out the side from a rock and the filler stem. you could see the bubbles in the walls when he filled it with air to show me. That tire had about 300 miles on it. He checked the other tire and it is fine so far. These are the tires that came with the Harbor Freight trailer. I heard a weather report of more rain so I went up 441 to Huntsville. and North to HWY 65 to IN. and I made it back without any problems.

I Bought an adapter so the tire from the car can be used on the trailer.

I tried to do that too but the only place I could find the right size refused to reply to my inquiries. :(

Hi Stacie
Wish Sandi and I could have hooked up with you are our way north.
We have pulled Miss Piggy almost 6000 miles so far on this trip......with no troubles so far.
Did repack my wheel bearing this morning in Kennewick Wash. after 8000 miles as the seamed a little loose.
Only maintenance so far?????

Stacie
I can see if I can find the source I found, they were very inclusive of different wheel sets.

I've been hauling a spare HF wheel and tire in my trunk, everywhere I go with my trailers. Looks like I'll continue to do it. I have never had a low tire or a flat, but who knows, it's best to be prepared. I sure hope I never have to use the extra wheel bearings as well.
