What do you use to keep the door open?

Postby JDDrake » Tue Jul 30, 2013 12:54 pm

What do you use to keep the door open? Our camper has a rubber type attachment on the camper and the door so it will not stay open by itself. Is there something we could do so it doesn't close unless we want it to? thanks!

We have two doors with the pointed stem that plugs into a rubber socket. One on my side holds just fine. the one on Kats side doesn't hold at all.

I don't see any difference between them, or in the mounting, but there sure is a difference in how they work.

Bingo! I have these on a couple of doors. Plan to use them on the teardrop. They are also spring loaded, so they absorb an accidental slam.

Thanks so much! It boggles my mind that a month or so ago my husband and I really hadn't even heard of a teardrop camper and now it's to topic of conversation.

I'm considering using a door retainer and they're pretty inexpensive. A buddy said you need be gentle pushing the door into the lock in particular with the plastic ones as the neck can break.

There are various options/designs

It's uk based but you may be able to get them from an RV spares supplier called something completely different. :)
