WAZAT!!

Just curious what others think of the WAZAT. I'm thinking as far as a TD this might be best way to go ( for me). I love that you can drop the inside wall between the galley and the berth. This might be a great way to prepare a bit of food from the inside on a really nasty day!!?? Also with that dropped down, the galley hatch open and tail veil installed might be huge benefit for ventilation on a hot and muggy night! Thoughts....?

Cool lil rig.. reminds me of a production version of Mikes "Weekender". I like the design and look of the weekender myself.

The WAZAT was the model for my weekender build even before I saw Mike's weekender. I actually looked into buying a WAZAT shell and customizing the interior myself but they wanted as much for a shell as they did for a completed rig. Shipping would have been a major expense too because they had no dealers near South Carolina. It's a cool concept but I ended up with my own version to my specs and for a whole lot less.

The aluminum frame stress panel construction is what most tears and travel trailers should be. I have seen a number of them and known one who owned one (he was the one I "borrowed" the AC idea from). I would not hesitate.

Jeff #2 on Hoosier Tearjerkers has one, and he loves it. I don 't know what he goes by on Tearjerkers... Maybe Jeff S.

His great story is being on the I-465 loop around Indy and seeing "another" Wazat . Wow, what 's the chances of that.... Until he realized that it was his. It had been stolen. He followed it discreetly with 911 on the phone. He did recover it after giving the police it's final location. Some physical damage, and some missing items, but at least he got it back.

I have been reading about a lot of trailers and considering Prolite Suite or Eco 12. The Eco I could stand up in! However they are so light I wonder about durability for bush road boondocking. Then there are the toy hauler conversions which are a bit heavier and I'm guessing more durable for bush road driving? However the Cargolite Extreme is probably too big and too heavy for my Subaru Crosstrek, and the Cargolite has no galley which I think is a deal breaker for me. So that leaves teardrops like the 5x8 Silver Shadow at 800 lb and the WazAt at 750lb probably best options for easy towing, turn around etc. I think I now prefer the Wazat Galley without the sink leaves a size able storage area under the galley "counter", maybe even enough room for the 37 ARB? Other features I like i stated in my first post. So these look to be rather rugged, durable teardrop version would you agree?

my cargo lite extreme is 1040 lbs empty... not sure about subaru but my kia borrego pulls it fine...

just a data point to consider. love ours btw.

That's Not bad!! Is that with standard kit...ie AC! Fridge, sink etc?? Still think a teardrop size is great for getting into narrower, rougher dirt roads which often have rather steep inclines.

Mine does not have any water systems. It has everything else however. The weight quoted was w/o the battery and empty of propane. It comes from the actual shipping weight.

I love mine... Hauls my motorcycle well, and more importantly my wife loves it and will camp now. We have gone atleast once a month for a year...

I have the Moto-Mate, which is the Wazat's baby brother. I am really impressed with the build quality. I have totally abused my trailer, taking it over 80mph on crappy I-95 in Massachussets, 50km into the bush on dirt roads, overloading it etc., and it still drags along behind my car. I regret not getting a Wazat, but I do like the profile of it. I can no longer find any local dealers. I would have replaced the Motomate with a Wazat if I could find another local dealer. Anyhow, my replacement is going to be a 5x10 built by a friend, so I won't be in the market for one.

I even spoke to one of the company's owners. Nice guy. He's in Indiana and when he found out i lived in Quebec, he tried to speak French to me. It's a shame that I don't speak French so I couldn't answer him back.

IIt seems there are two versions of the Wazat. If one googles images of these there is also a high roof version which is same shape but clearly has much more head room when you look at the top of the door relative to the roof line! But maybe that one was a custom build. The local dealer here has spoken to the factory, sounds like they have not built a Wazat since they came out with the Cargolite...it has completely overtaken the Wazat in demand! He has Cargolites there so I have seen them first hand along with LGs and SS line. The Cargolite certainly feels roomy in the berth, but no galley and SS seems more cosey or homey. Unfortunately no Wazat to see first hand but am told they will do a custom build Wazat without the trailer bed ( I would never remove the pod anyway) and larger wheels ..thinking of 13 or 14" . Given the choice so now trying to decide Wazat or Cargolite. Nice option idea for Cagolite is to order the barn doors and then put shelf across the back which could be removable but act as a galley countertop. The awing can also be mounted on the racks across the back to cover this galley area and apparently there is a screen room that will mount on the rear too. I see pros and cons to each, it's a tough call!
