ONE ... 1 ... good thick coating ... let set for at least a couple of days.

I used two.
The idea was to provide a cushion to protect the oil based paint I used to seal and waterproof the wood from rocks, spray, etc.
Still in good shape 8 years later.

I put two coats of an asphalt based fence post paint I bought at Tractor Supply. Has worked good so far.

I used two coats of Henrys over two coats of Zinsser oil based primer. The main reason I used the primer was to make sure the Henrys didn't cause my plywood to delaminate.

Two or three coats of Black Beauty Fence Post Paint for me. The stuff dries in a few hours, instead of a few days like Henry's. And its specifically made to stand up to direct contact with the ground and to resist moisture and bugs. Can't beat it for the ease of use, or the price. Then I use an asphalt based caulk in joints. The asphalt caulk and undercoating play very well together.

I used spray on bed liner (the professional grade two part stuff). So far so good with 1 year and about 1,000 miles of camping.

Cheers,

I needed to provide a waterproof membrane for my new shower and discovered this stuff: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Custom-Build ... 169081-_-N

It goes on easily with a roller or brush, cleans up with soap and water, dries quickly, is 100% waterproof, flexible, tough, and dries to a bright red color (the only downside but as it's under the trailer who really cares).

IMHO it's an excellent material to waterproof and rockguard the underside of a trailer.

My two scents.

Cheers,

Gus

I used the standard asphalt coating. 2 good coats with a day to dry in-between.
Not from experience mind you, just from the advice I got here.

Thanks for all of the ideas and suggestions. I just finished putting on another coat on. Hopefully the floor will be ready for walls this weekend.
