Fred, living in a hardwood forest , we see /hear big limbs fall every day , and old trees falling or getting blown down is common ... Bit scary really :frightened: ... we lost 60 trees on the property to Katrina , all blown over in the same direction . luckily , only one , a giant Water oak blew on the house (Isaac) , which caused some small tears in the tin roof . (see pic) Now there’s only a couple "big ones" close to the house ... and like I told the wife , its got an 80% chance of falling the right way ... :o

First Official day of Hurricane season .... Today !!! :o It’s what we prepare for (our style of EVAC “camping” ) ... Finishing up on the inside repair , getting everything checked in and ready ... The FS is essentially ready to go ... all the gear will be carried in the back of the pickup . Making a list , checking it twice .. Seeing whose friends , we can camp in their backyard... The yearly preparation for possible extended camping ... which may , or may not happen ...
We’ve done our best to provide a roomy , comfortable place to camp , and yet not be a burden to tow. FS is yet to be tested on an extended stay , but after all these years (and Storms) , I think we’re better prepared than ever before. Hopefully!!! :worship:

Ps. Here’s a pic of the woods today .... they fill in very quickly after the storms , the big trees fall down , the little ones grow up ...

Supposed to be a low number of hurricanes this year again.

But that doesn't mean you won't be unlucky. Never seen so much rain here - everyday a thunderhead or 4 come rolling in. Just had pea sized hail a minute ago. Man is the lawn growing fast; my mower is getting a workout this year.

Back half of that cell rolled in - mothball size hail in it :R

Whether Global Warming or “just a cycle” , we see a LOT of freaky intense weather all over... Mother is PO’d ... :frightened:
We pray (for Everyone) for another low incident year ... :worship: Like they say here , "but it only takes One “ ..
FS repairs are almost done ..down to cosmetic touches now and re-attaching the chipboard panels , but all’s waterproof (tested in quite a few recent local deluges ) ... We’re good to travel ... and Yes we’re now Legal too .... and insured ... 8)

... a side benefit of foaming in the kerfs on the nose was it feels much more solid (stronger) now ... I should have done this from the get-go! This was a little problem (all my fault naturally ) that could have gotten out of control on a commercial trailer , and our fix wasn’t anything more than a couple cans of Great Stuff... certainly keeping the yearly trailer maintenance costs to the price of lunch at a Chinese buffet ... :D I Love Foamies !!!

The standard by which all things are measured
Glad to hear the repair turned out so well.

Good luck with hurricane season !

Probably not the best idea for me to raise my pet peeve on weather vs climate but I have a hard time seeing .8 degree C increase in the last century in a bogus average anything to worry about or to affect chaotic systems. We can get 40 degree temperature swings every day this time of year, so .8 degree is just measurement error.

The thing about humans is we mostly forget the small stuff, so the swings of weather over the long term get submerged in the everyday. The media certainly is most at fault with everything the fault of humans and their global warming, including smaller brains :R You can make anything true by cherry picking the start and end dates of climate periods, which is the warmists favorite tactic after "adjusting" all the data in their favor.

Anyway, any rational person can see that the 'extreme weather' is anything but extreme. It always changes but we just remember the exciting bits rather than all the boring parts. 'We all like to talk about weather but nobody does anything about it' - Mark Twain

GPW, you know what the hardest thing for a climate "scientist" is to say ?

We don't know why !

If they can not predict the weather, they do not understand it. Physics is totally about getting the math correct and the prediction correct 100% of the time. Chaotic systems, by their very nature, can not be predicted. So, when they can predict the weather close to 100% of the time, they may predict the effects of something as trivial as an atmospheric gas comprising .04% of the atmosphere. In other words, they never will anytime soon. [ I've never seen a bigger bunch of broken-down hacks in my life ]

Crawfish is no longer on my diet (never was really) :R ... and this is the rainy season (we’re right next to Texas ) ... My only options are bringing my own nibbles , and playing in the “Big Room” at the country club if it rains, which has the acoustics of Echo canyon (been there, played that) ... :frightened:

Right now , there’s not a cloud in the sky , but it was the same yesterday , till it rained... :rainy: .... But my container veggie garden is doing well with all this rain, so it’s not all bad eh ?

Did you know that there were more casualties caused by falling trees than by enemy action in the New Guinea campaign of WWIII ?

In koh samui thailand more people die from falling coconuts than any other cause... sounds rediculous dosn't it but gets some fierce winds through in the wet season and some of the pass are upward of 150 feet.
Wish me luck I'll be there in less than 2 weeks

Yes, good luck and enjoy - not exactly the most stable country at the moment. You will have an interesting time - I prefer boring :D
