Hi Brian,

They are only about 23 miles away from us....we get up there quite a bit. Hey, are you and Sandi going to make it to Applegate this year? Maybe we'll see ya there?

I wonder how many of us are in the same boat I am. I am retired and should have all the time in the world. At least that is what our kids think. But I have one heck of a time finding time to work on the trailer. Between doctor appointments (al lot of them lately), aliments (lots of these), social events, house/yard work, funerals (seems like of them lately too - maybe it is because I am getting older and so are my friends), and a whole other list of things, there seems to be no time left....oh, I forgot about naps.

But a few of the reasons are interesting. I recently helped our state game department stock 340,000 Striped Bass (Rockfish, Stripers) fingerlings into Smith Mountain Lake. That was a good diverision.

This is the stocking truck backed up to the ramp. This is not me, but rather another Striper Club member.
Image

And here are the fingerlings as they are called. You can see they do not want to go.....they are trying to swim against the flow.
Image

Then when not doing diversional things like that, every other Wednesday I go hiking with a bunch of we "seniors" (when my back allows).
Here are a few Blue Ridge Mountain pics.

One of the more cleared out trails. This was an easy hike.
Image

Some of the remains of old homesteads....this one is not too old though - it is still used. But this is just an example of some of the scenery you might come across in the mountains here in VA.
Image

Here is why these mountains are called the "Blue Ridge". Almost a constant haze. And to our friends in the west, these are just "hills".

Can it be???

Finally done with a years worth of distractions and found a weekend (next) to sneak off for a night or two to the high country!

So this weekend I'll be topping off the battery, airing out the camper, and tinkering so we can hit the road Friday. It's been head :hammerhead: banging frustrating looking at our little Escape Pod - begging to go for a ride.

On the plus side, we have a new master bath - just so you don't think I've been lazing around...

I feel like I've got nothing done latly although I've achieved a bit. On Tuesday I'm off to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand for 20 days or there abouts.
Part of me realy dosn't want to "waste" the money but due to health issues and things will be nice to get away and pretend life's good and easy :).
I'm going to try to pick up an inverter or leds or something while I'm there though

Sorry was not able to make it down your way in Australia. On my way back today but this is a beautiful country. I hope to get back here on vacation some time. Looks like there are some awesome places to camp.

Got up to Show Low / Lakeside this weekend just to escape 115 degree heat (for 90's) :?

Image

A little campsite that takes reservations so we knew there would be a space waiting for us. Right next to one of the hosts. I kid you not - the campsite was raked, the firepit vacuum clean, and the cleanest vault toiddy I've ever seen!

Got a 5 mile hike in before it got too warm:

And no fire restrictions either!
Image

Only the second voyage for the Escape Pod, and we're booked up until the end of August before we can get out again, but plenty of tweaks to do - better, less obnoxious reading lights in the cabin, a 12V lighter outlet in the kitchen, bubble levels so we stop sleeping on our heads, fire tongs for the campfire, etc, etc...

Looks like you had another great Gathering, I saw the video, looked like a lot of fun! Holly is doing fine, thanks for asking. We have had a lot of Family stuff this Spring and Summer, so that along with some changes in our Business has kept us close to home, finally Joy told me to take off without Her, so I'm outa here next week!
