Hay is cut!

Postby Vedette » Thu Jul 02, 2015 10:46 pm

Yes.....I cut our 2nd crop of "HAY" today, 24 days earlier than last year!
So at this year's "Farm Gathering" I won't be on the tractor cutting in the middle of the event???
We will have to find some other farm chores to do? I know we can pick apricots and have a Dutch Oven "Apricot Cobbler" competition!
Sounds like there will be a lot of winners!!
Did I mention I LOVE fresh fruit cobblers??
See you all in just 2 weeks!

Agriculture here is at least 2 weeks earlier than we have ever seen before. First time I have ever seen anyone thrashing grain here before July 4th. ( yes I know the proper word is "Threshing" but using that word around true farmers will only get you funny looks, if not beat up ).

You cut hay with a tractor? You using one of those pull type swathers or a real 3 point PTO sickle. PTO to a farmer means Power Take Off. NOT Paid Time Off. That is a foreign concept to farmers.

:D :D
