What does your junk weigh?

Postby Cosmo » Thu Apr 14, 2016 6:21 pm

If this was covered before let me know and I will delete the post.
I weighed the "stuff" in the trailer. Pots pans, gear etc. I have not weighed he mattress yet but with 9 gallons of water (72 pounds) in the fresh water tank I the stuff weighed I am hitting at total of between 185 and 200 pounds.
The packed REI Alcove with steaks, sidewalls etc weigh in at 20 pounds each (I carry 2).
This excludes clothing, gallons of fresh water, bicycles, sleeping bags etc that go in the car.

Was wondering what others gear weighs in at.

Thanks
Cosmo

Clothes and teardrop equipment are in the trailer, food, water, coolers, tables, etc. are in the pickup.

Spare tire 55lbs, 20# propane tank 37lbs, tarps and rigging box 18 lbs, clothes 12-17 lbs depending on trip length, galley stuff (pots, pans, plates, etc) 8 or so lbs.

So in total, in the neighborhood of 150 lbs. But in the pickup truck, one cooler weighs 50 lbs, the other 35, the folding table and two chairs total 35, the solar panel 15, the dry goods boxes (groceries) 18-20 lbs. So easily another 150 lbs, and I don't carry water because I don't boondock, but I carry copious quantities of beer and the ice necessary to keep it all cold ;-)

Hope this helps.

Oh, a good EZ-Up frame and canopy can add 120 lbs.

Empty weight was 1320#. Add 20# propane, spare tire, tongue box, galley drawers, tambour doors in cabin and galley, MATTRESS, fridge, junk and bicycle w/carrier and subtract tools, and it's 1810#. Battery was already in it for the first weigh.

Funny you should ask, because I just got 2nd weight on Tuesday. The second weigh-in was free, since I didn't need a certified weight! :chicken:
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.
