I bought a new PD4045KV off Amazon (this listing: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XRU6FM) and I'm not going to use it in my build after all because I wasn't really thinking. I don't camp anywhere with shore power and it just doesn't fit into my layout now. It's never been installed or wired, brand new. I'd be willing to sell it for $140 to anyone on the forum here in need of one for their build.

I've had two leaks already in this trailer. The first one was the ramp door seal was improperly installed from the factory (I bought the trailer brand new and its never even been on a trip yet) and the second was a very poor caulking job on the front diamond plate. I figured I was clear and today I hosed down the trailer roof as I was going to roll it with some Henry's 687 before the hot weather hits. I noticed a pool of water in the front of the trailer on my brand new floor. Water was getting in between the over lap in the metal sheets in the front of the trailer and pooling up at the bottom. I had to take off everything off and rip the insulation and great stuff out to track it down (not fun!) what do I notice? 1) the over lap is not glued like the other side is and 2) they had a piece of wood where it overlaps so they could staple the first piece of metal to it when they were building the trailer and one of the staples had was not in all the way and created a little gap. Since my driveway is sloped it created a perfect angle to push water right now to. Now I have to glue the over lap and silicone the hell out of everything and then put everything back. PACE uses quality materials but their craftsmanship is poor at best, not happy and don't even want to contact them again. Hopefully this is the last of the leaks and I can enjoy the trailer.

Leak fix:

Longer self tappers with waterproof washers and a very DIY silicone job. I ran a bead in between the overlap and then one on the actual seam. Not pretty but I'm hoping it does the job.

Taking off in a month for a 5000 mile 5 week road trip with the trailer. We will see everything from 95 degrees to 32 degrees. All with a 2 year old and a german shepherd. Should be fun. I'll post some updated photos this week.

Would love to see your finished pics. I assume it's finished. Are you going north or south first? Looks like you are going right through Cedar City, UT. Let me know if you need any info, help or recommendations.

There are a few things left to do before the trip, but its pretty much done. I'll get some pictures together soon.

We are going north first and then the south route the way home. We are going to try to make it to St. George the first leg. Any advice on where to stay around there? The KOA there gets pretty bad reviews. We will be getting in late and then leaving in the late morning to head up to Salt Lake KOA.

So I got the trailer weighted today and here is where I came out:

Trailer Solo: 2200
Trailer Connected: 1800
Tongue Weight: 420

What is everyone else getting on their 6x12s? I'm okay with the trailer solo weight, just that tongue weight seems too high for the total weight? I'm going to try to move some stuff around. Would a weight distribution hitch be the smart move here?

As I recall, your tongue weight should be in the 15-20% range of total loaded trailer weight. Others may be more helpful.

Thanks. I did some more research and I'm fine on the tongue weight. No need for a WD Hitch. Although I did add brakes to my trailer yesterday and will install a Curt Anti-Sway bar before we leave. I should top out right at #2500 total weight.
