12 V DC Panel Meter

Postby Dee Bee » Sun Oct 31, 2004 7:46 am

I am in the planning stage of a tiny trailer.... This weekend I built the heart of my 12v DC electrical panel. This will monitor the batter volts and amps drawn by the various loads. Comments and ideas welcome

Happy Camping

Dee,

Thats very cool. Super clean looking. I want to build something along those same lines. Where'd you get the cabinet?

It is the plastic side of an old computer case.

Wow! Really nice. I used an automotive type voltmeter, the round one, that is not nearly so clean looking, but does the job. The meter panel includes some ammeters that are just for fun, not at all necessary.

To the left of the voltmeter are two toggle switches. The one on the right is DPDT with center off. Up displays battery voltage and down converter output. If the battery is connected to the converter by a separate battery switch the readings are the same. The switch on the left turns on/off ammeter backlights.

You might want to add an analog ammeter mine has worked out great it is 0-30 amps and I also have a digital volt meter on my panel.
Oh... and yours looks great your original build inspired mine!
