That doesn't change from North to south.. Down south.. the temps can be higher than what we get… . which just makes it all the more miserable. [We can be very humid and have temps in the 90's… and sometimes over 100 which is "mild" compared to some places.]

The other morning we started with temps in the mid 60's with Dew points the same. One gets pretty wet.. and without too much exertion one sweats like crazy, but it's still more comfortable than 80's to 90's with event that same dew point.

Yep Glenn, I've bear hunted in western Maine in August & we had some pretty humid conditions. Think it was 2005, we had the remnants of Katrina caused some less than comfortable conditions around Oquossoc. Wuz just trying to remind caseydog (also Glenn) that no matter what, weather conditions here in the South are gonna be miserable when dewpoint/relative humidity are 'up there' & we're likely to have those conditions 'til sometime in October...

I wasn't sure if you knew CD was Glen.. so I wasn't sure who your post was directed to.

We have had a pretty warm.. or consistantly warm summer… hopefully we will be cooling down to some really pleasant "stuff" soon. :D

Wanting our fresh concrete set up a little before we work around it, we went on to do other work. We have more to do on the barn but opted for some trail work. We really love trail work and have not done much in a while. So while it wasn't much of a physical break.. it was a nice mental change of pace.

We had a downed tree to clean up on one trail, We also had 2 recent dual track sections that had some recent logging done. Neither place was horrible, but a good clean up would make a huge difference. On the way out to the sections we had a small tree to take out on another trail. It is a nice fun fast section, that had a little bottle neck. While I like trying to manuever through tight tricky places.. this one seemed to "ruin" the flow. There were 4 trees fairly close.. and you had to kind of zig-zag through them.. which is tough at speed. I ended up taking out a different one than planned… then seeing how that works.

We didn't end up doing much house building yesterday. The work in the woods loosened up some "stuff" on the tractor. So I worked on that. We did get some pressure treated decking ripped, for strapping on barn. We got it placed up on a roof, near an upper area wall. I remembered we wanted to get a ride in, so switched over to that.

With all our work we haven't been riding enough, and I want to try and change that. We also wanted to check out the new trail work. I also had 2 new strava segments that I wanted to check out with the "new" bike.

Yesterday we had somewhat drier weather.. then this morning humid again. We have cold fronts coming through today.. and with it some heavy showers. They are frequent and heavy enough that we are not working outside. While we have the the dumpster [for tearing our house wall apart] we thought doing some cleanup in the barn might be a good idea. Wow we have a real heavy shower right now. :o

Yeah Glenn, it's been a while. Think the last time was at LCG, at least a couple of years ago. I see you're tent camping now instead of using the CaseyKraft. Did you sell it, or otherwise dispose of it? Lenora & I are doing as well as you can expect for folks our age. I've had some lightheadedness that the Docs are working feverishly to identify & cure but no luck so far (had it since March this year). More annoying than disabling but it's a PITA 'cause it hits at the most inconvenient times. Think the last time I actually corresponded with you, was earlier this spring & you were hospitalized & expecting to go home in a day or so. Hope you're all over that & doing well. We're planning to attend Madjack's 'soiree' at Caney Lakes in Oct. Look forward to seeing you if you make it.

I sold the CaseyCraft after I sold the crossover and bought a MINI CooperS. Yes, you can set one up to tow a teardrop, as we have both seen (Granny and Papa Gene), but the cost is a lot more than what I had in my entertainment and recreation budget, and would have compromised my warranty.

I sold it to a retired guy in Louisiana. He still has it, as of a couple of months ago, so I guess he likes it.

I am going to Las Vegas on business the week of October 30th, so getting to MJ's party is not likely. Wish MJ a happy birthday for me. :D

Finally a decent day here. Low humidity and high of only about 80! :)

Have to go grocery shopping this morning and then to HD and/or Lowe's to look at post lamps. Should get the lawn mowed and trimmed today also.

Yeah.. we are cooler today.. down into the lower 40's this morning.. and low humidity.. We are expected to get to the 70's… pretty perfect weather. :)

It did clear off yesterday, and we got some work done on the barn [outside].

I will go back to work on the porch this morning.

I was out fairly early this morning and have been fairly productive. I did take the forms apart. I was going to let it wait some more. Then I thought maybe I could take that end board off.. then loosen those nuts.. then the next thing I knew it was all apart. :D

I did my final "taking apart". I had some plywood to cut out of a recessed "trough" 6 feet long 6" wide and 8" deep. I had just purchased an oscillating saw for this.. and man is that amazing. I am not sure of any other way to have done this job. I could have used it earlier in my demolition work.. but at least i have it now. :D

I have started to rebuild in that area… slow work …. small 2x6 pieces.. foam insulation… to cover a wiring area. I have my first 2x6 on top of that.

I then went onto prepping my next concrete pour. I have drilled 6 hole in the old wall, and have cut my rebar to size. I have some old spray foam to cut back [to make room for the forms.. otherwise I will probably just clean up.. to get ready for tonight's ride.

Another work day… I only had one bike to work on when I arrived.. I did have some other little work come in while there...

The boss called at one point.. and talked to my co-worker.. I was hoping he was going to ask for me.. telling me I am done for the season…

but no such luck.

Then I get home after our group bike ride.. and there are two phone messages.. and maybe :NC but again no such luck.. It was the IRS… looking for… actually I don't know what.. I didn't listen to much beyond that..

It was a beautiful night for a ride.. but I didn't feel very good.. so I mostly sat in.. and hung on.

After the ride.. I scored some great rubber roofing for my wall project. They are putting a new roof on Laurie's building.. and there was a dumpster out back.. with a fair amount of "scraps". The smaller pieces might have been 5' by 15'. I just want something as a moisture barrier between the concrete and the wood wall. I have painted foundation coating on the wall, [I have more to do with the new concrete pours] but I had planned on putting something else in between.

We are supposed to have rain coming tomorrow.. it sounds like I will have a little time in the morning. I would like to grout in my rebar pieces. The material I am using cures pretty quick. So I can do the work.. and then cover it with a tarp and it should be fine.. If it's not to bad out.. maybe I can get the form in place .

I got my rebar grouted.. then did some other work.. and picked up more concrete mix and other "stuff".. then I was able to tie my rebar.. the Laurie came home [early for the day] and we got the forms on. That went easier the second time. This side.. I had to make it a little bigger.. but fortunetely I only had to add 1.5" to the height.. and the same for the length, so it was easy to do. I just hope I have enough concrete now.

Our rain was delayed so we go the work done without getting real wet. We have some off and on sprinkles but nothing serious.

I also came in to a late lunch.. [ 2:00 ] to a phone message from the boss…. :wakka wakka: :wakka wakka:

I am done for the season… I don't mind working.. I mostly enjoy my job.. but It is slowing down.. and I have a LOT of work to do here.. and now I can mix concrete tomorrow instead of working. :D
