Oh, Glenn does tell heavy equipment stories from time-to-time.

A friend and I went over to Caesar's Palace tonight. I bought some good cigars at Casa Fuente. We saw some good costumes, but nothing earth shattering.

Hey Alan :wakka wakka:

The thread is a little busier than it was for a bit.. with Glenn re-joining us. I used my hoe a bit earlier building some new gabion walls. I don't think I did any trail work with it this summer.

hmm is it interesting that with so very few people here.. that two of them are Glenns... 8)

We had temps in the lower 20's this morning. I think we are to be sunny today. It is at least sunny now. We have had almost no sun for the past week.. so not much for solar heating. We have made it to the first of November without having to add any additional heat. The house is starting to cool a little. November and December are tough months in that regard for we don't get a lot of sun, the sun is also lower on the horizon.. so not as strong.

We need to be looking at finishing things up outside for the winter. We have a little more that we will definitely try [and expect to be able ] to finish. We have more metal coming in [today maybe].

We do hope to get some more trail work done. We did not do much this year. A biggie is leaf blowing. Looking at the end of the season.. and not many people riding.. it might seem "crazy" but it will also help the hikers, and it will leave us less work come spring.

Yes Alan, we have been very busy working on the house this year. Unfortunately we didn't do much else. It's been a mix of building anew and repairs. We had an early spring, so were able to get to work outside early. We got a bit done on the barn. The major part of that, 3 roofs replaced. We got a lot finished on our covered porch, ceiling put up, a bench made etc. We got a new woodshed made, more gabion retaining walls made, One of our less fun projects was replacing a house wall that was rotted.

It's getting the time of year we need to start wrapping things up for the season. We have more metal to put up on the house repair. I have a new delivery that I will pick up today.

A rotted wall  interior or exterior etc etc. November seems kinda late to wrap up house work in Maine.

Well it was the exterior wall on the entrance side. There was a porch built onto it.. so it was sort of outside and inside. Moisture had gotten into the top of it. People built houses year round up here.. although some aspects of building can be fairly expensive in the winter. Our' project is fairly weather proof. I have cedar shingles to put on two walls.. and other stuff.. they are house wrapped and such.. so If I don't get to it.

I have other work.. like soffits to install.. if the weather stays decent.. I work on them.. if not I wait. Staining or painting is the more questionable work.. as we slip into November.

I have a few things to pick up outside.. and have snow tires to put on.. and I need to put my snowblower on the tractor.

We have been fairly warm.. today was extra nice.. we got up into the upper 50's

I had to tear apart the inside the porch to get at the rotted wall. I have all that to rebuild. I can put a heater out there and make it comfortable.. if it's not too cold out.

So how are you doing?

40's and rainy today. It sounds like rain and showers through Sunday. We could use the rain.

I have been out leaf blowing the trails.. since it was light enough to see them. It was only drizzly to start with.. it did build to a steady rain. I am a little cool now, and might build a fire.. our first of the season. I was debating going out to work on the porch.. but I might just take it easy and do house work type stuff.. laundry etc.

We are hosting a group ride Sunday. Dave suggest or told us we were. [testing the waters] We said sure.. so he has been posting it.

I was going to go out and do more leaf blowing.. but I am sore and tired. I could do it, but I am worried about being "trashed" come time for the ride. That was the problem with the Spooktacular in the past. We would work SO hard preparing for it, when it came time to lead the ride, I had nothing. :(

So right now I go back and forth about going out. Laurie is taking the afternoon off, and we do a little other trail work.. so maybe I will work inside the porch this morning.

Gee I forgot I used one of my Hoe's the other day.. my Rogue one. I call her Molly. We have been doing a little trail work in-between all the house building. I will do some of that in the rain.. where I don't do as much [outside] house building in wet weather.

I got that inside wall boarded up this morning.. Laurie should be here shortly.. and perhaps we will get a few things done here before heading out.
