:lol: :lol: , what great responses. I see I am in good company.

That picture was for illustration purposes only. THATS NOT ME! However that's what it feels like, doesn't it?

Padilen, I had to make my wife look that once when she drank the last beer on me. :lol: :lol: JUST KIDDING!

Hey I am going to pad that over head strip this weekend with something. Great Ideas, thanks.

Don a quick question for you please. When you look at the wood panel I have here, is there room for that battery light indicator? Would it be a slot, square, or hole of some sort.

Let me grab that pic and edit. One moment....

Tommy, the battery monitor plugs into the 12v receptacle and hangs down below it some. Should not be an issue as it is not mounted on the panel or wired into it.

Hey Don, and anybody else,
I don't see the need for soldering here so I forged ahead. Going to rap this up quick. I had fun. Simple. Not done yet though. Shelve and small box above fold out shelve... :thinking: dunno

I did not wire in to auxiliary buss yet but the wire is run.

Well I wired it up per Dons instructions and of course it works.

Will now make some sort of box/shelf combo. Using scraps I saved. The ones that are already sanded and stained are a bonus for me.

You know when I first hooked it up the C.T was plugged into the house as it has been for a day or so as I was working in it. So at that point the voltage read 13.6. I then unplugged the house power and it dropped to 13.3

Both readings seem high for a 12 volt battery. Can My Progressive power center over charge. Is it?
It has some charge wizard chip or something so It shouldn't.

Anybody? 13.6 :thinking:

Thanks again Don for the instruction.

Tommy B. Howdy;

Waaay back on pg. 50 Don posted a chart that shows the effective range for 3 types of 12vdc batteries.
So, to be effective in the 12v range then being 'bumped' to something a wee bit higher would be good.
Here's a link to the Progressive Dynamics FAQ page, it may help answer your question ...

13.6v is typical for the charger. 13.3 will probably drift downward some without charger and more quickly if you put a load on the battery. It sounds normal to me.

Hey Tommy,
I like,... no, LOVE the numbers I'm seeing there. The panel looks Great! Wiring looks solid, and the ability to charge phones, etc. and monitor battery and systems health is all good stuff. Nice Job, Sir. Take the rest of the day off and bask in your glory, or you can leave your clothes on. Either way,... your call. ... ;) ...

Thanks all. It seems to have settled at 12.7 but I had LED lights on as I finished.
Its bigger and deeper than I thought it would be but it is a new DC power center after all, The location allows for the phone to set on the fold out counter with no stress to the cord.
I still need to tidy up the wire and all but that is the basic set up.

Question if anybody knows...will that set up run a lap top or a DC TV ? One of those outlets should do it, right? :thinking:

That picture shows the phone cord in the wrong outlet. It was too big and I had to use the cigarette lighter like outlet that I use in the truck which worked fine. So what are those other jacks for? TV or Lap Top?

Tommy, the cigarette lighter receptacle should run almost any DC device limited only by the gage wire and fuse size you selected (of course you need the correct DC adapter for your device if it does not run straight up on 12vdc) . The USB ports will charge phones and laptops.. but not do much else... you can run the laptop while plugged in however, if the USB port doesn't keep up, the deficit will be drawn from the laptop battery.

The mount looks great. Nice work!

I am confused on the USB outlet being too big and having to use the truck adapter. Can you post a closeup of the USB port?

Also, I forgot to say, the switch is a 20amp switch I think. You should be fuse limited to 20A.

Tommy B. Howdy;

Did you try both USB outlets? One may be for USB-2 and the other for USB-3.
I have both on my newest computer and have to be careful when I plug stuff
in so as not to use the wrong one. The idiot designers put next to each other.

Hank that's a real possibility. I will check. Seems to me I remember a difference in voltage per spec on those out lets. :worship:
Would be cool to not have the bulky 12 v cigarette thing sticking out so much.
