Now that is a stellar idea.

Tommy, Just build a small base (no wider than tub) just high enough to take the drain and hook up the hose. You can screw the tub to the base and just seal the screw heads with some silicone. The whole thing can move together probably just need an inch and a half to clear things. Connect your hose whenever you are ready to shower. When done, coil the hose up and put in bottom of shower and move it out of the way. I like it!

Pumps are cool though..:-) Your electric bed lift is cooler though!

more is always betterer... right?

Tommy, I still have the portable tank we talked about previously. Let me know when you want it... it is tucked away in my shed..Probably won't need it unless you go to a regular campground... No need at boon docking places.

The pump would not reach prime and sputtered water out the outlet. Just an experiment. Fail

The platform I had from the build. It would need to be that high but my head touches the ceiling when in the tub. Fail.

The tub needs to be flush on the deck. Got to be. So.......

Either a hole in the tub and floor or a bilge pump inside the tub like the boat.  those pumps work submerged I know they do. So if one was suction cupped to the bottom and wired, yes wires in the tub like in the boat DC. and the water never gets any higher than one inch or so could it shock you?

I am just brain storming before I drill a hole and plumb stuff. It has to be easy to use in the end but of course safe.

The pump could go in after the shower or If you guys think its ok to use like this during the shower.
It is just setting there now.  But I like it compared to the other choices.

Its automatic right now.

Please if I ever needed advice it is now. :NC

HALLMARK 6X12 CONVERSION

Postby Padilen » Sun Feb 26, 2017 1:07 pm

Tommy
I don't know anything about those pumps but if it's used on a boatit must be used in wet locations. But why not be safe and stick it in after?
I think 12 volt will just short out not shock you. Or I just can't feel a 12 volt shock

I am sure it will work; however, it just seems like a lot of trouble for what you are trying to accomplish. Why don't you just put two handles on the blue drum then and just pick it up dump it down your sink when you are done. Probably only going to be about 2 or 3 gallons of water in any case (~25lbs. max) and should be easier to manage now that you have cut it down to size some. You are going to have some water left in it anyhow and need to dump it somewhere... but the pump is cool.

I'd just keep the submersible pump tucked away somewhere in case you decide to take a super long shower and have more water in there which then becomes difficult to handle. Just my thoughts.

I use these type of pumps all the time on my boat's bait tank and always have my hands in the water. Either I have been lucky or the chances of a 12V shock have been slim. I have never in over 35 years had a shock. But I would think leaving it on auto would be annoying....on, then off, then on and so forth. A push switch might be more convenient.

Hey I will of course tidy this up nice and store it around the wall.
There is wiring for a three way switch but I wired it wrong and every time I flipped it the fuse would blow. I could not figure it out because the pump ran fine with out the switch.

Sometime around 2am tossing and turning I think figured it out. I ran the POS wires to one side of the switch and NEG wires to the other side. I THINK. But I will check it out after work. I have done that before. :?

The tub cut down is awkward to lift with even three gallons. I tried to do that and to just dump it in a five gallon bucket. Both where awkward and made a mess.

Very little water left when the pump is on and your feet are barley in any water. Its also super fast and drains 3-4 gallons in about a minute or so.

I love it.

Still need to tweak and will post a few pics when it totally done.

Thanks all for the input.

I had a switch marked wrong. So it may be that. Glad you found a cool solution !

Nice job Tommy. I knew you'd figure out the best way for your needs. On the switch, if you are blowing fuses when switching, you may be switching the 12vdc to ground. There should be no ground on the switch itself unless it is illuminated. If so, just check your connections to be sure they are correct.

Ground is typically never run through a switch unless you are using a switch to reverse direction of a DC motor.

You only need to make or break the connection on the hot wire for the pump. Leave the ground wire on ground all the time.

How did the fridge work? Did you test it out?

You guys are going to Delancey this weekend?
