A new California State Parks campground has been proposed at the site of the old, ocean front, Piedras Blancas Motel on Calif. Highway One 17 miles north of Cambria, California. The plan is to renovate and re-open the Piedras Blancas Motel and cafe, add more parking, 14 new cabins, 29 new camp sites and build several miles of coastal trails. The location is close to Hearst Castle, the Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery, Cambria, San Simeon and is a gateway to Big Sur
I'm excited about the plan and hope it's completed and operational soon! It could be a great location for future teardrop gatherings!

Google Earth - Piedras Blancas Motel showing the ocean front location of the old Piedras Blancas Motel and newly built parts of Calif. Hwy. One that was moved/rebuilt more inland to compensate for future ocean front erosion.
