Today it lives.... The new heater is installed in the Depot. I spent about 23 bucks in piping and fittings but I have heat. Had to test it out for about a half hour maybe 45 minutes. It was 42 degrees in the depot when I fired it off in that time it rose to 63 degrees. Now I can finish the drywall and maybe install the wall paper and paint.

Got the indirect lighting troughs started yesterday ! Doesn't look like much work but I was a bit preoccupied with putting in a rear wall in the tractor barn addition to help keep the snow off of my new mower and my new truck. Land lady let me use it as a carport for my toys. Filled in the triangle at the top and both sides with matching t 1 -11 siding and tightened down the roofing that was flopping a bit in high wind.

The 30th was a big jump The trough lights for indirect lighting are all in. The three rope lights (that were a donation from my helper) were dropped in the trough and we added track lights( that were headed to a remodelers dumpster when I found them) are now attached to the bottom of the troughs in the sleeping shelf, and the living room areas of the depot. These spot type lights are trained on the long south wall across from the side entry door. There will be a collage of train art work on these walls that will be washed with the light. The 2x10's we have been walking over for weeks have been cut to fit as the curbing for the found pillow top full mattress. We also wrestled the mattress we have been working around into it's new place on the sleeping shelf. I will finish installing the 52" ( $10.00 ) ceiling fan today. It was purchased several weeks back at a yard sale. It was still in it's unopened box. This fan will come in handy to wash the heat off of the ceiling that is being created by my newly installed gas wall heater. The only cash outlay this weekend was $65.00 for my helper without who's help I would have never gotten these steps completed. It was money well spent. The floors are swept clear of the drywall trimmings and saw dust and dropped screws,the tools are somewhat organized and by days end the bed will be made up nice for some new pictures. Yep gotta drag out the camera and get loads of pics. I hope to add some night shots to show off the soft glow of the indirect lighting. It took several hours to rip down the 100 year old car siding and repurpose it into the troughs and get them installed but the effect proves that the work was worth it.

Well crap ! My first unfixable failure............ I placed a romax feed off of both entry doors for a set of recessed lights. There were to be 2 in the "living room' and 2 in the entry area. I failed to daylight them out before closing up the ceiling and dry walling the side walls. Well we went hunting for them this weekend. Stared cutting holes in my beautiful drywall job and removing portions of the ceiling I can not find them anywhere So now I have two switched lines that are hot when switched on but attached to nothing. I have given up. I will remove the switch and convert the mystery switch to a duplex outlet. I feel so damn stupid. If I had just taken a picture I would know where they are but I will take a beating before I take down anymore finished walls or ceiling. I opened the drywall mud to put on the 2nd coat since I now have heat and the outside temp was even helping out. Well guess what, it had developed some type of black mold. I have done a lot of drywall jobs and had never ran into this before. My knees were really acting up and I was tripping over everything and a ladder was my very worst enemy. This weeks efforts were nothing but a giant step backwards. My helper and I sat and cussed and discussed future tasks and just drank a lot of beer, Better luck next weekend.

Lookie lookie lookie what I found for free about 12 blocks from work! I was hopeing to find one to fill in the 11 inch void at the head of the mattress. I will cut it down as needed to fit under the A/C unit which will be the head of the bed. Yes the pillow is at the foot in the picture (Duh!)

God just loves me. Got the headboard into the depot and started taking measurements to see what had to happen to get it installed. The bed frame was made weeks ago. I just guessed at a width that allowed a bit of room extra room for the full mattress to be better able to make the bed easily. Well out to out it measured 59 1/2 inches. I measured inside of leg to inside of leg on the headboard and it was 59 1/2 inches. There was no study ,no pre- planning, just stupid dumb luck. I gave the headboard a light stain to more closely match the under bed cabinet shortened the legs so it would fit under the AC unit and installed it Saturday morning. Took the truck down the snow covered lane and into the back pasture with 14" of loose snow. It was a great test for my brand spankin new mud and snows and my 2 wheel drive pick up. It walked thru it like a spring day.

Been a quiet two weeks. Work asked me in for extra days. This couple with a couple 100 mile trips to Indy for a friend in the hospital for heart work left little work time. What there was , was simply too damn cold to even think about standing outside running a table saw to cut trim and such. Stayed in by the fire and watched tiny house this and that on the boob tube. I did get a different regulator for the LP tank so it would better reach to the depot heater. I had a tiny doghouse I had built for the land ladies pups when they were tiny. Well they grew out of it However, it will just fit a 20 pound LP tank. The roof flipped up for easy clean out so with the new longer regulator and hose the tank can now be dropped into the dog house and I can surround it with closed cell foam and shut the roof . Hopefully this will keep it a bit warmer to help keep the pressure up. So today I spent just a few cents under $40.00 on the new regulator and fittings so it is time to edit my cost notes.....

Winter has slowed the progress way down. Getting the drywall all installed ( still need to be mudded in) the heater installed and the shelf bed completed were about the only great strides since hell froze over. If it is not artic cold it is raining and 31 degrees. Spring is about 7 weeks away and then the loose ends can begin to be tied up. There is still a long way to go. I need to first move the depot tight to the platform which is about 8 feet sideways. then the final electric hookup ( right now we are operating on a big honkin' extension cord from the tractor barn.) the water harvesting system to the tank and the tank transfer lines to the caboose. The jury is still out on the stand alone wood stove building. ( Land lady is a bit hesitant ) If it is installed there will be heat transfer tubes that need to be routed to both the depot and the caboose so I can enjoy wood heat and not rely solely on the propane heaters. The solar hot air system and the hot water preheater system need to be finished and the solar units placed on the roof. Somewhere in my spare time the land lady wants a 12 x 20 she shed built for her stained glass studio. I still need to install underground electric to the future she shed and continue on to the chicken coop so we can ditch the 100' extension cord to the coop that is currently being utilized. I am tired just thinking about all this !
