They have been awesome. Don't even know they are there.

Moved from near Lake Havasue to a place called Government Wash overlooking Lake Mead not too far from the Hoover Dam. This is BLM camping at its best. Look at this view. I'll probably hang out here 4 or 5 days.

I want to install some similar latches as below inside my trailer on the cargo and entrance door. My question is do you have any idea how far the wood is around the inside of the doors? Screws won't hold much in just aluminum.

There is a wood perimeter that is at least 1.5 inches on my door. Keep them close to the edge of the door and it should bite well with a good wood screw. Mine seem to be holding up well so far.

my doors are solid osb, easy to work with when installing windows but tough to insulate

Liking the BLM land I am at on Lake Mead alot. Will probably stay until early next week. So glad I was finally able to get out West in my CTC and have the time and means to drift where I want to and experience the desert close up. All systems work great so far. Blessed for sure.

My friends visited camp yesterday AM. Lexus wasn't happy about it!

Lexus on duty. Long story, but she may have saved my bacon last Monday. I ended up leaving a spot in the dark due to a situation she gave me advanced warning of. Earned her keep.

Could do better by tilting panels, but really not needed . Using power without regard for conservation, I end the day with 100%. Actually replensish 100% with about 2 hours of good sunlight remaining. Use about 15% of the 510aH overnight running everything as needed. I've been out 3 weeks and never needed the generator. 510ah definitely not needed out here in winter. More of an east coast thing for running the AC in summer when parking lot/rest stop boondocking.

flboy, Howdy;

Would like to hear the basics of your midnight move and the reason behind it.
Might help someone else out if they have a 'heads-up' regarding the circumstances.
Hope miss Lexi got an extra treat for being the good girl she is.

Hi Hank, the short of it is I was in a secluded canyon area by myself and went in as sun was going down. I saw what looked like an abandoned van nearby. Coyotes were near it, so I figured nobody else was. Saw them coming in via headlights.

It was pitch black soon except for a working light I had. Lex was on chain because of coyotes, but darted under trailer and to other side and went off viciously. I pulled the 9mm and went around thinking coyotes; however there was a large person just out of range of Lex. He did not respond to me asking "what's up?". Just turns and walks back into darkness. Not towards abandon looking vehicle either, but up a nearby trail.

I figured I'd leave in case he came back. Last thing I want is to be put in a situation where I'd need to use force to defend myself. Not sure if he'd come back and I figured I wouldn't sleep wondering anyhow, so busted up camp and drove the 3 miles back to pavement that takes about 30 minutes or so. Drove to a Casino Parking lot near the Hoover Dam and spent the night so I could sleep.

Bottom line, not sure what this person was up to, but was sneaking up in darkness and did not want to talk to me. I assume no good. Without Lex's keen perception, I was working heads down and could have easily been surprised from behind.

BTW, Lexus did get many treats that night. I give her slices of Kraft Cheese. It's her favorite.

If your near Echo Bay they have a great campground there with hookups.
You get a card to access the bathroom which is nice. Keeps out the unwanted.
Did have one coyote wander through but didn't bother anyone.

I don't think that Echo Bay is too far from here , but I prefer the boondocking more out off the beaten path.

Yes! that was a bit unsettling. When I am off boondocking solo... it's never the wildlife that concerns me... it's... well you know and that's why I have Lex and some hardware.

Wow! What a great adventure and beautiful places you have visited in the last few weeks. I saw a video of a CTC build where a guy installed security cameras on all four corners of the trailer so he can keep an eye on his rig when he is camping around other people. Have you given any thought about doing something similar?
