Shelly made this prototype for her doll house sized (1/12 scale) home shop line

168261 168262

Actually, she did that awhile ago out of wood and other scraps, but she's now thinking of designing a resin 3D printer version. She used little magnets for the bearings and a piece of a jig saw blade for the bandsaw blade, and plans to keep those pieces in the design. (Guess I'm not allowed to throw away jig saw blades anymore.)

Some of you may recognize the colors. (She's going to check and see if they are trademarked--she may have to change that a little before selling them.*) I suggested she call her line "Bruin".

Tom

*I'm wondering if she emailed Shiraz Balolia, whether he might give her permission?

Tom, for your edge guides, on the end of that big scrap wood rack you've made. Maybe cut you some 1/4" dowels. Drill some 1/4" holes in the top brace across the end of your rack on a slight angle. Glue the 1/4" dowels in the holes. Drill 3/8" holes in the end of your guides, and hang them on the end of the wood rack. Easy to see and out of the way.

Thanks David. It's a good idea, except the scrap wood bin already sits to the side of the wood rack. We have peg board walls in the shop, but there are so many guides that hanging them all would take up too much space. I'm thinking of a horizontal storage rack, with quarter inch ply shelves spaced an inch apart; just enough space to slip a guide in between. Then I'll hang the rack on the peg board, if it doesn't come out too heavy.

I have an ancient (1990) Mitsubishi triton ute.
I believe it would have sold in the US as a Dodge D50 or Mitsubishi Might Max.
I bought it for peanuts about 12 years ago from a work colleague who loves restoring ancient motorcycles.

The Triton was his daily driver parts hauler work truck, and all his very considerable vehicle maintenance and restoration skills were directed elsewhere.
The Triton was the worse for wear, and didn't get any better under my guardianship. I joked today that I should get a ballpein hammer and put a dent in the roof, it being the only panel that doesn't currently have a dent.
I'd quit it, but it sees considerable service as back-up tow vehicle and general runabout for my son's electrical contracting business.

So yesterday he called to say he'd broken down on the side of the road. Collapsed water pump bearing.
Local tow truck operator brought her home for $50.
He's a mate of my son. I asked him how he ever expected to get rich at $50 a shot.

Today was spent waving the pressure washer around trying to find the engine under the caked on oily grime so I could remove the pump.
Reg from up the street popped in and asked for a helping hand. The job was turning over his new teardrop trailer frame for #2 build. He hasn't even been camping #1 yet! I left my phone home. No photos.
I probably should also have gotten #3 son to take photos of me washing the inside of the Triton with the pressure washer

Mick, no photos doesn't seem to be a problem. You have a knack for writing that allows my imagination to picture what you are describing! Not all of us have that talent . :pictures:

Wow, Thank you gents. I strive to write clearly, a habit from writing work scopes for mega-dollar projects at work.

I made the cabinet to hold the tracks for the router and flush trim bit, that I'd made a few days ago

168280 168281
168282 168255

It's a little less than 4 feet wide, to fit between the trim around the peg board in our shop. Longer tracks, I'll hang, but this takes up less space and makes it easy to get out the size I want.

It's hung by three L hooks. I chamfered the back so it goes in at an angle, and then snugs up to the wall. If it doesn't fall off by tomorrow, I may trust it enough to store some router accessories and bits on top.

168283

Nice shop improvement project that cost me $0 (all scrap wood), and the type of hours that don't count against one in the scheme of things.

I visited 5 car dealerships and finally settled for a Hyundai Tucson.
Now I need to buy a trailer hitch and install it...

Check one of the U-Haul company stores they carry Draw-tite hitches and can get you fixed up in less than 30 minutes.
Growing older but not up !
