How I survived 5 day's on the salt.

Been working on a saltflat racing team this summer and survived 5 days on the salt.
If you've ever been to Bonneville it's a shocker the 1st day. Salt reflects the heat and drys you out quicker.
Things you'll need.
1.) Water. Drink as much as you can beforehand and bring at least a 24 pack with you.
2.) Cooler. We have a lifetime 55qrt cooler.
I froze 2 gallons of water, 6 water bottles, and some of those frozen packs, plus some ice. This lasted the entire weekend. Keeping the cooler in the trailer out of sunlight.
3.) Cooling shirts (preferably hooded) and sunscreen (the spray kind). Cooling rags dipped in the cooler water wrapped around the neck is awesome relief.
Hats the bigger the better. I bought a Tinney cooling hat with rear neck cover. Can also soak these in cold water.
4.) Shade. A ez-up and a few tarps will do wonders.
5.) Camping. We camped up higher on a nearby mountain but any wind at night is a welcome site. I used our lil Arctic Air mister on those nights with no wind. The 6hr battery did great used sparingly. Eventually temps drop about 2 - 3am.
6.) Take plenty of breaks in the shade.
7.) No alcohol. Heat and beer don't mix. Actually had a crazy camp neighbor that tried starting a fight over a simple issue.
8.) Oh and don't forget sunglasses. Preferably the polarized kind. I usually don't like em cause it makes tinted windows and such odd colors but on the salt they help relieve eye strain big time.

Here's a few pics from the 2 weekends I spent out there which was test n' tune and speedweek.
Our car broke early so we left today.

Thanks for the pics, Modstock. Love seeing Bonneville Speedweek pics.
Another tip.....NO SHORTS! Reflection will sunburn "things" that don't normally see sun.
