Laptop- Crash and Phhhhhhhht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby PaulC » Sun Aug 13, 2006 7:25 am

The darn thing decided to crash out on me this weekend  I've lost all my e-mail addresses, pics, TD info- The lot :(
Guess that will teach me to have a backup done on a regular basis.

So, for those of you that have sent e-mails to my private address, I do not have a clue who you are now. Some may even consider that a blessing in disguise

That's the main reason I have not been very active over the last cuppla days. Back on line now so, look out :R

Cheers
Paul

Paul,

What kind of 'crash'? If the HD will still power on and spin, there is a way to get you data back (or most of it anyway). I have software that will do it for you, but it is a bit pricey to buy. You might be able to down load a demo copy that would get your stuff back.

Here's their website: OnTrack

There are some others out there too!

Hi Kerry, Thanks for the link. The only thing that was powering on and spinning this weekend was me :? .
I had to get my computer guru fella in and he had no idea what had happened. All that was coming up on power up was a black screen. He tried all the funny writing geeky stuff and could not find anything. The only way we could get any sense out of it was to re-boot it.
Before you ask, This young man has a degree in software thingies. Programming, That's it.

As you can see, I am completely up with this type of stuff
Turn it on and it works-- Okay
Turn it on and nothing happens--It's broken!

Cheers

Paul,

I have some certifications and have fixed a few, but your way is as good as any other. Sounds like there is a good chance that the Hard Drive is still good enough to copy information from it. Have your computer guy take the hard drive out and 'slave' it to another computer to see if he can get your information off of it. It should be worth a try!! Glad that you found a way to get back online with us!

Good Luck!

Kerry, He did something with the laptop connected to our desk top. Had me totally :? . Still got the same thing happening and then he asked me if I had deleted any programmes..............UUUUMMMMM Maybe

That's when he decided to reboot the whole show.
He then gave me strict instructions to never do anything with this damn thing until he was sitting here. I have agreed to that.

Thanks Mate

Cheers
