Banjo
I used a spring loaded pole I made with a point on 1 end to go on my outside awning tube, and a table leg rubber bumper to rest on the trailer side.
I'll tell you how to make a spring loaded pole, you'll have to figure out your length according to your fabric.
First I went to home depot and bought 1 piece of 1/2" EMT (electrical metal tubing) and a piece of 3/4" EMT, 2 springs that would fit in the 3/4 EMT. Compressing springs not stretchy ones, about 5" long. Cut the EMT in half. Slide the spring in the 3/4 and put a rivet in the tube to stop the spring, then about 1-2" up from that I put another rivet in to hold the spring from falling out. Put the table leg bumper on one end of the 3/4. Insert the 1/2 EMT into the other end. I plugged one end of the 1/2" EMT with a wood plug and ran a screw down the middle of that. Cut the screw head off and there you go, a spring loaded pole with a rubber bumper on one end, to rest against the trailer and a spike on the other to go into the outer awning tube.
Hope this helps.
Happy Trails
