I agree! I don't think I can buy the steel, axle, springs, wheels, lights, hitch and then weld one up for what they sell the 4 x 8' one for? Amazing deal at $299. at my local Tractor Supply... And I've seen it on sale for even less!

Yea...I gotta agree, particularly if you can find a HF or TSC trailer that has a good axle and accepts the wheels and width and length of trailer you want to build, go for it. If you have a custom design, or have to compromize your design to fit the trailer, or if your in Alaska and don't have a local TSC or HF store and have to have it freighted....build your own!!!

Kens,

I am heading to my parents this weekend and they have a TSC. I will check out their trailers. I just didnt see any good info on their web site. Everything they show has sides on the trailer.

Dad also knows some guys in the fabrication shops that can weld so maybe i will be able to find a good deal on building one.

I think I paid around 240 for my 1800# trailer (20% off coupon and on sale)... it came with steel, hitch, lights, wheels/tires, etc... I could never come close to doing that on my own... oh, and it was painted as well.

I paid under $200 for my folding HF model (with coupon), the lighter one. And that's why I built a TD in the first place.

It was so cheap to get started, I just couldn't say NO!

Finishing it is what got expensive. $>
