I have noticed many "sun roofs" and Moon Roofs" on cars actually have channels built into them, with tubes that run to the underside of the car. Rather than trying to make these openings water tight, they "channel" the water to the ground, where it can do no harm.
I am interested in a similar concept for my Weekender design. This is brought on by the fact that I purchased my hurricane hinge, then modified my design and find that the hinge is 2 inches too short to go to the edges. I am now thinking about making the hatch a total of 8 inches narrower than the weekender, and building channels to run the water to the ground. I am very interested in whether this has been attempted, and with what success?
